Hey all, i just recently came into a very large sum of money from my family, so i decided that i want to build the ULTIMATE PC, i got all the parts listed and double checked myself and they all seem compatible. Do you guys think this a good build?? Im thinking $6,000-$7,000 max for the computer and HDTV to play it on.

I will also need to buy a DVi -> HDMI converter thing....forgot that on the list.

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=6960305&WishListTitle=The

The Ultimate Rig? I want to be able to play games lightning fast, record and watch HDTV and Blu-Ray, need lots of storage.

Insted of that CPU I would get the extreme one 3.2Ghz

and insted of the EVGA 132-CK-NF79-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra I would get the SkullTrail and 4 GTX 280 Quad SLi and double Core 2 Extremes @ 3.2Ghz total of 8cores

Hmm im unfamiliar with Skulltrail, and i was looking at Tri SLI etc benchmarks for the GTX 280, there was basically no performance gain and they had to use a 1000 watt power supply AND another 620 watt supply, lol. And im not sure if any "desktop" app can realy use 8 cores, i want amazing real-world home performance, i wont be running a server or anything :).

hm seriously if u want the best gpu performance, ur gunna have to crossfire a couple HD4870's which is the same price as the gtx280 for both of em. you can buy a x48 board if you want ddr3 support. also for a case, might i suggest a thermaltake armor+. itll fit everything with ease.

if you want games on a Vista computer, don't install them in Program Files. Install them in a folder like my games, because if installed in program files, modding will be impossible

I gotta tell you that your building a big pile of waste. You want to spend that amount of money then you need to seriously rethink of what you want to do more than others. Your flow of quality parts is wacky. This isnt meant to insult you at all. I am trying to help you in this regard.

Skulltrail sucks monkey balls for gaming. Disregard the advice completely.

I'm not too familiar with high-end parts, so I'll comment on just a couple of things.

1. I'd recommend the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude over the Creative sound card - its audio chipset is supposedly better.

2. Do you need an HDTV, or would a monitor work as well? If so, why not get a 30", 2560x1600 monitor for the greatest resolution?

Switch out your 2x1gb set and make it 2x2gb. You will want 4gb for vista.

You ever want to SLI the 280gtx you should just get the HX1000 psu. 750 with this setup is dangeriously close to peak with the fact that you might get the itch to OC your quad and will need 4gb for vista.

Dump the Antec 900 and get the 1200 instead. Better overall and worth the extra money. If you didnt know you got TWO antec 900's on your list. Not 1.

Personally I dont understand why you dont get a 30 inch monitor, put the thousand you save and get another 280gtx and sli them. Also get
