So I was looking at the Warcraft series, and I was really interested in them. But what really caught my eye was Warcraft III. I know it's an expansion to the original, but do I need Warcraft, and all the Warcraft II expansions to play Warcraft III? what do all do I need?

sorry but i am new to the Warcraft universe.

Err... Warcraft III is a seperate game. You don't need the prequels. Might want to pick up The Frozen Throne, though.

Warcraft 3 is a stand alone game. Go ahead and try it! If you like it there is an expansion to the third game called The Frozen Throne. Hope you enjoy it. I have since the first time I played.

You don't need WarCraft 1 or 2 to play WarCraft III.

Warcraft 3 is not an expansion pack, it's a standalone, straight out numerical sequel to Warcraft II.

In my opinion, its one of the worst RTS ever, and I loved Warcraft 1 and 2, so that is saying a lot

Well the hero aspect killed it for me. Gotta love it when someone comes into your base with a hero 2 levels higher than yours, and watching them slaughter you with nothing you can do to prevent it. However, the single player was done pretty well.

Yeah I don't like it at all either. It seems very tacky with the heroes and "levelling on creeps" and all that crap, plus it's more about twitch clicking gameplay than actual strategy. But it's good as a competitive game, and it's got a large following due to Warcraft's history + Blizzard fans.

Too bad Blizzard took a dump on the warcraft series with WoW. I actually thought they did a pretty good job with storytelling through their amazing cinematics and pretty good storylines. Then came WoW... no way am I sitting through months of MMORPG gameplay just to get all of the story progression.

IMO its one of best strategy games ever and i loved 1 and 2 so that is saying a lot. Warcraft 3 is especialy known for its polished gameplay and multiplayer, and thats why we have lot of competitions. On other hand, there are games with bether STRATEGY but their gameplay is bad
