Soo I've been stuck on the same part for a vverrrry long time, right at the end of Chapter 3 where you have to fight the Proffessor.

Now whenever I fight him he has a shield and lightning attacks, but I've recently seen videos of people fighting him where Geralt has the shield and lightning attacks. So obviously I've missed something somewhere.

Can I still beat him without it? I'm getting my butt handed to me every time.

There's some event in the second chapter that decided who gets the shield. I guess the professor and javed managed to beat you at the tower in chapter 2? Because that means that they take the book instead of you keeping it.

You can still beat him, I don't know how thou. I've never had my ass handed to me by them in chapter 2.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure I beat Javed at the tower, someone on youtube said "In chapter 2 i didn't do a succsessful autopsy so Azar got the book, and now the proffesor got that shield instead of me" seems like such a hassle to go back a whole chapter. I generally suck at RPG's haha. But the witcher is great, and i desperately want to complete the first so I can move onto number 2.

I haven't played witcher in years. About all I can suggest is to coat your sword with some sort of poison/grease before the battle. Also abuse the magic system. If I remember, the air magic will randomly stun opponents allowing you to do a quick kill on them. Don't know if it'll work with that battle though. If he has fast attacks then you should be using the fast strike stance, yourself. Otherwise your strike combos will break. I remember that the magic could be substitute as a sword strike, too.

I don't remember if the boost upgrade is available at that point of the game, I don't think it is. Anyway, at some point the game gives you the ability to boost attacks. There is a diamond looking bar at the bottom of the screen that fills up as you hold attack keys down (can't remember if it was just for magic or if it was for the sword strikes, or both). Then when you release the key you got a more powerful attack. The thing about the boosting is that it would freezes the combo strike timing, as you were boosting. Which makes things much easier when stringing combos together. Once that boosting ability unlocked, the whole game became a compete pushover for me.

Yeah I'm trying to use the Aard sign as much as I can. It's those damn Kikimore warriors, they stun me and I just get mullered. It's rather frustrating :P

I think there is a potion that you can make that makes you immune to all stun effects.

lol there's actually a way to exploit the game where you run away from him and get far away enough that you can actually save the game so you don't have to go through that cutscene each time and also use your health potions.

I prefer to use diamond dust or runes, if memory serves diamond dust is 40% more damage while whettstone is only 20%.

Your right, and I meant swallow not sparrow, duh. My main point, to be more clear, was don't worry about the kickmore things, killing the proff. Triggers the next cut scene.

Well, I'm thoroughly unprepared for this fight it seems :P I may have to go back to before this whole journey into chapter 4 and stock up on potions. Also i used a ton of potions for the fight before so im heavily intoxicated and using any other potions puts up to dangerous levels... I really need to plan a bit more in this game hehe.
