the witcher looks awesome to me - the combat mechanics look incredible, the depth of a pause & plan bioware rpg with the click fest action of a diablo style hack n slash rpg all rolled up into one unique looking package - if the combat plays the way it looks, it'll be great
i know little of the story, but the world i've learned something of, having just finished reading Sapkowski's the last wish - it's sometimes hidden behind pseudo-fairytale and hammy, almost-decent translation, but the world is dark and bitter, and it seems like a great place for a fantasy rpg (though i can name several better!)
the choice/consequence mechanic looks magnificent as well - actually being able to alter the outcome of the story and have multiple paths that affect the world is a strange feeling these days, and this is really where the game could trip over its own toes and fall into a giant vat of mediocrity... it looks great on paper, but these things always look great on paper...
the game looks utterly beautiful as well - gameplay is always more important than visuals, especially in roleplaying games... but it's nice that we've gotten to the point where we can have these glorious 3D worlds full of lush vegetation and beautiful weather effects and so forth... it really does make the world feel more worldly
cd projekt has promised us a demo, i just hope it comes before the game is out - i really can't wait to play it... got it on pre-order at a place that ships stuff 3 days early so i always get it before it's in the shops, and i've got six days booked off work - hope the game is worth it
