You may want to edit your topic title to say *minor spoilers* or something. Otherwise, you may get a few people complaining that you gave away a small bit of the ending without warning.JP_Russell
I expect people to already know that there would be spoilers because my thread is titled the witcher "ENDING".

Yeah, I know, just thought I'd give you that heads-up since there will always be people who will complain if you don't specifically say there are spoilers when there are, even if the thread title highly suggests that. Heck, I've seen people complain about spoilers even when there was a spoiler warning.

Thanks buddy. Didn't know that. Anyway what do you think?
It's unclear who exactly the assasin is, but if you look at his eyes, they resemble those of a witcher. drnick7
he may not be a full witcher. judging by the outro movie, he can't cast spells such as aard, igni, etc. Also, he uses dual daggers which is unusual for witchers since they use steel sword or silver sword.
The assasin at the end most likely isnt anyone special. The catalyst for Geralt's adventure was the theft of the witcher formula. At the end of the game, the secret is apparantly safe, with everyone who had a hand in it's theft dead. The assasin at the end proves two things: (1)Some enemies of the king still have access to the witcher formula, and more importantly (2) They perfected it's use! Remember that even though Javed had stolen the formula, they were only able to produce those hideous freaks before Geralt put an end to their operation.
The true meaning of the ending is up for debate, but I believe that the identity of the attacker is not nearly as important as the circumstances.
ey is the witcher any good? Is it like fable? andcan i take your "Proud to be filipino" thing? hahahahahahPoweredByHonda
The witcher for me is epic and one of the greatest CRPGs i've played. You should definitely play it. Try he demo. And yes you can take my sig. I take it you're a filipino too living in San Diego.

Agreed. There is one thing that the ending really showed and that is Jacques de Aldersberg the Grand Master is Alvin the boy just older.
If you head to the witchers website, this is discussed alot, and it seems that the devs also put some clues in the artbook in the LE of the game.
in the art of the asassin, it is highlighted that the person has a potionbelt, lige Geralt, but also that he has an amulet like Geralt, altho Geralts is that of a Wolf (his witchers school) the asassin wears an amulet of a snake.
So speculations are about if this is a witcher from another witchers school? You are told that there are more witcher's schools throughout the world, but they lost contact with eachother. Another thing to notice, is that Geralt and the asassin use two entirely diferent combat styles, and choice of weapons. Which for me atleast gives the possibility that this is one of the witchers from another school, and will mean that the world has indeed changed, (remember how meny times Geralt emplyied that the real monsters are those who hide behind laws and rules, throughout the game) And that one of the witcher schools if not all of the have strayied from thier path.
Or this is a perfected mutant, The Professor and firemage dude, might have sold the secrets to more then the grandmaster. And the witchers formula will alter the world still (and thus acturally mean that the grand master suceeded in part of his vision (to make humans survive the cold)

Had to revive the thread after just finishing this game!
Truly awesome, but I'm a little annoyed to find I missed two quests. One in chapter 3 I think, you have to get it before you go to the posh reception, or else your chain of events won't allow you to do both it and a quest from Siegfried. It's triggered by meeting Yaevinn at the Druid's circle out in the swamp, but why would you be all the way over there before any other reason sends you out there and there's so much to do nearby??? Also, I didn't seem to get the Identity quest finished. I have no idea why, I must have done everything. But enough of that.
Has anyone played both with Triss & Shani as love interests, on separate runs? Even though I'm a hetero female, I chose Shani just because the preview I saw of her second sex card was gorgeous (and the first was so ugly I wanted to make up for it, whereas Triss's first one was nicer than her second). A lot of people seem to have chosen Triss because there were more advantages to that choice. I'd love to hear the different things Geralt thinks about in cutscenes (like how he needs to leave Shani before he gets her badly hurt) but with Triss as the one who got Alvin. I'm sure there's threads on this already that I somehow missed, so pls feel free to direct links.
What's with the ending? This thread has the best theories to date. I always wondered about the 'other witcher's academy' thing since if they really lost touch, how does Geralt know that all witchers are extinct other than him and Berengar?
In another site I found, people suggested that the assassin at the end was actually Geralt in the future. He comes back to kill the king after seeing the disaster it would cause (with time travel again). He looks different as he found the reverse mutagen he wanted (to not be sterile and perhaps to darken his skin and hair, making him look more human). I think this theory is crap because Geralt is the better fighter, how can that be against his future self??? Also the new guy didn't seem to know any signs.
The theories I like best are in this thread. That it's either another witcher school's graduate or someone else used the witcher's secrets to perfect the mutagens (but were smart enough not to make a big noise about it). Can't wait for the next game to see.
Also if anyone got into the theory that Alvin is NOT the GM Jacque, I disagree. The writers definately seem to want us to think we killed little Alvin and get a twinge over it. There's so many clues from him saying you debt was paid (the first time you meet the GM) and 'you always said...' comments. The medallion was a definate giveaway and both Alvin and GM are sources. There's more clues too like Alvin flashing up in the GM's dream world (more like a glitch in the projection than a deliberately placed obstacle, it would be better if the Quest update saying Geralt wouldn't be distracted hadn't been added there).
I'm a fan of the future Geralt theory myself, simply because there were so many strong hints of time travel throughout the game, mainly with the Grandmaster/Alvin, the final sequences, and the wraith king. Even the assassin himself looked similar to an aged Geralt, and were almost equally matched in the final fight until Geralt did something completely unexpected and threw away the gold at the assassin's face - something uncharacteristic of Geralt which could arguably put the fight in his favor when fighting against himself.
Let's hope for a second installment of the game to explain it all.
