The Witcher: Enhanced Director's cut and windows 7?

So I'm trying to get into the Witcher story line after finishing the 1st book of the series and I have a few questions (if you can't answer them all that is fine). Can you run the Witcher:Enhanced Director's Cut (the one you can download from steam) on window's seven? I tried to do the www.canirunit.com test and everything passed but it couldn't give me an answer for operating system because it said something along the line of "we aren't sure if windows 7 is supported".

Also do the games follow the book stories? If so I will just play the buy and play The witcher 2 and skip the first one since I know the story from the first book.

You won'thave much of a problem following the story even if you haven't read all the books.

And btw, sites like CanIRunIt are very unreliable, if you are not sure if you can run a game, there is a sticky where people will be more than happy to help you.

I dislike Triss since I read the books. Yennefer is the real deal.

Also I had a nightmare last night in which The Witcher TV series was on and I was trying to stop my parents from watching it because it would ruin their opinion of the games and books. I am not joking.

I played both and i loved them so much i want the books.
