The Witcher loses best role playing game award even though everyone in the world voted for it. Some game that i never heard of before won and nobody voted for it. I guess ill have to try it.California74
Yea i dont understand it.. the worst RPG of the ones nominated gets the win.. maeks no sense.
The Witcher, Mass Effect and Eternal Sonata all deserve it more IMO
The Editor's choice award is chosen by the "Editors" not the voters. The Witcher won the user's choice award.
Wait, where do they show which one the editors picked? I'm looking in the genre awards section of the 2007 GS awards and it just shows the percentages of members' votes. Anyway, if this is true and they ended up picking one that had a tiny fraction of the votes that the Witcher did, that sucks. I think it is a good idea to not just pick the one that got the most votes everytime, otherwise it's just a popularity contest (not to mention multiplatform games are particularly at an advantage over single platform in that situation). But if one game gets like 40 times the votes of another, and they still just pick the less popular game anyway, it kind of negates the point of even having voting.
Oh well. I just hope they don't also ignore Crysis kicking ass in the best PC game of the year section. :P
Right below the votes theres an envelope looking thing and you click on it to the get the editors choice.pwilletts
Oh, woops. It was so big I figured it was just an advertisement. :P
I can't help but think, that GS is going down the same road as G4 TV.--Anna--
What road is that? I've only been paying any attention to G4 for about a year, so I don't know how they may have fallen from grace over the years.
[QUOTE="Ondoval"]I have a still full operative PSX, PS2 and PS3, and a powerfull PC, and I can only say: The Witcher is the best RPG in tis year.
lordlors
Agreed. It's way better than NWN 2 IMO.
"action-oriented"? From that I would feel like the guy didn't even play it. The Witcher is definatly the least action oriented RPG is a long time. Which, to me, is a good thing.
If someone give the gold medal to a guy in a wheelchair, I will only applaud.
Hard to complains that the guy in the wheelchair isn't a better athlete.
This is just like some peoples would give a better score to Zelda or FF games then to real RPGs. The fact these games barely match the definition of RPGs and are let in almost as a courtesy, is going blind on some peoples.
Maybe they didn't have the same criteria for each game. Witcher is judged by criterias for PC games, those are extremely high. Scoring the same for a console game is a LOT easier, the setting is on easy mode. It isn't against the Witcher itself, it just show the categories aren't really something to mix.
If your 12 years old boy teamwin the Gold, is that better then youradults winning the silver? To some it is. Of course the adults athletes would outperforms the kids on almost every layer.

no one in their right mind has ever thought zelda was an rpg in the slightest.
other than that your point does make a bit of sense
