In your opinion which is the better game and why?

I played witcher when i was bored and i played Dragon Age every day for 10-12 hours .
My vote goes to Dragon Age . It felt more epic.
I loved both games. DOA was more epic, but I felt more immersed in The Witcher and I loved Geralt and felt like I was making an impact on the games. i also like solo RPGs a little more than Group tactical combat, mainly for the immersion factor. But to be honest, you can't lose with either game! Hell, get em both!
The witcher EE is better. Why? Because drago age is another bioware game with the same story elements and combat mechanics as most bioware games. The witcher is a new game with difirent story, setting and not another game that you create your character and make dialogue choices, its more linear and specific, you play the role of Geralt without changing his prefences and story!dakan45What do you mean the same story elements? You're not saying that Mass Effect shares the same story as Dragon Age are you?

Check this out, I think mrbojangles posted it a few days ago. And yes, Dragon Age had a very cliché and predictable story. Despite the fact it was a great game, I prefered The Witcher because of the story.
The setting of Dragon Age just felt way too generic and the gameplay was quite boring. I'm gonna give it to the Witcher.

It won't come up. I havent played Dragon Age (sir put down the tomato) so forgive me if the story IS the same as Mass Effect etc.The Witcher, though the combat could have been better, I liked its choices and consequences and story, for once it wasn't your usual "Save the world!", I found it more realistic

Mass Effect - Reapers= "Kill us all"
Dragon Age - Blight = "Kill us all"
Mass Effect - "Assemble your team, save the galaxy!!"
Dragon Age - "Assemble your army, for Fereldan!!"
Not to mention some npcs have similar personalities like:
Mass Effect - Wrex
Dragon Age - Sten
Even the intro of the story starts with betrayal:
Mass Effect - betrayed by Saren
Dragon Age - betrayed by Loghain
The cliches don't even limit themselves to these 2 games, its similar to previous of their games (like BG and JE)
In summary both games were cliches, Bioware makes cliche however they are very good at making it so the generic actually becomes amazing generic.
EDIT: Sorry didn't realize you haven't played DA yet but what are you waiting for? GO GET IT!

Mass Effect: Join elite force called the specters
Dragon Age: Join elite force called the grey wardens.
The Witcher - if for no other reason than he is attracted to women.
Dragon Age is a typical Bioware propoganda game, trying to shove their PC beliefs down everyone's throat. Ugly grapphics, broken quests, childish dialogue, clunky combat, and a lousy story didn't help much either.
The Witcher - while Bioware make fantastic games, they lack originality, they are similar to other Bioware games as well as others ip's in the genre.
Dragon Age is still a fantastic game, The Witcher is just... fresher.
The Witcher was really boring during the 1st chapter but got really interesting during the midgame and stayed solid from the 4th chapter till the end.
Dragon Age really sucked me in in the beginning but over time it has become so dull that I can't bring myself to playing it anymore. And I haven't even reached Deep Roads yet, which according to some people is at the peak of fail in DA. It has better combat, though.
Dragon Age by a million miles. I couldn't finish the witcher and I tried 2 times. The farthest I got was Chapter 3 because of all the praise the game gets. It was painful playing that game. The crappy clicky click mouse combat was horrible. Dialog was so boring I was practically pinching myself and drinking coffee the whole time to stay awake.
Man I could come up with at least 30 rpgs off my head that blow away the witcher with no contest. The game shouldn't even be compared to Dragon Age. I would go beyond sayingDragon Age is on another level... try10 levels above the Witcher.
Both are good games, but I prefer The Witcher. I like the dark atmosphere of The Witcher and prefer its story arc to Dragon Age.
Couldn't have said it better myself.I loved both games. If you want to boil it down to simplicity like that, you could slot the Witcher in there neatly for the most part too. You're as much 'humble origins' as being the child of the god of murder was in BG, being the greatest threat the galaxy had recently known in KOTOR was, or being arguably the hopes of humanity in ME. That it takes you the length of the tutorial to find that out doesn't change that (though in KOTOR it's uh a bit longer than that, haha). Most of the cliche/pattern comes in where the Bioware games almost always force a party on you. Say the Witcher threw you into a party, who do you think it would have been - possibly your two closest friends from the introduction, Triss and Vesemir - the witch and the warrior? Otherwise, yeah, Bioware has a very distinctive style of storytelling itself that tends to give you order/chaotic/neutral options while still working towards defeating the greater enemy, regardless of your motivations. Yeah though, the Witcher's story was flat-out good - you definitely can't see what's coming next through 90% of the game like you can with most games. Bioware's actual storytelling is pretty awesome, however, and they've done a much much better job with DA and ME2 recently when it comes to something The Witcher did amazingly well: having you make choices and seeing how they pan out, as opposed to directly picking the outcomes. If Bioware games lost the current charm/intimidate style of getting a guaranteed desired result from a conversation option it'd probably help too, though I suspect most gamers don't want that on average.I enjoyed the Witcher, but enjoyed Dragon Age more. I preferred that I could control numerous characters. Dialogue wasn't as cheesy in Dragon Age either. Geralt had a voice such that he must've had an operation in that they installed a Subwoofer in his throat. It was always so bassy. Although found Dragon Age amuch harder game which sometimes caused me agitation.

And the Witcher begins with an amnesiac character who is part of an elite order. Neither game has a strong opening.
How can you guys say that Dragon Age has more polish when the Witcher was made in POLAND... Bad pun? awwwee yeah.Mikka_kippaloooooooooool thump up
i see... maybe Dragon age is better than the witcher, but it's just another bioware gampelay with inporve graphic, sounds, etc, but not imporve in story and gameplay. I admit it when i play Dragon Age i can't stop a bit. But the witcher is something new for gamers, the gameplay, the story and else.

The diffirence is that Geralt knows he is a famous witcher even if he does not remember in detail his past. His adventures are known to other npcs and they make refrences to the books, while in mass effect its just backstory, either you are a war hero or a renegade. True that the witcher intro is not impressive but it came as a "OMG WOOOO" to the fans of the book since in the last book you dont know wherever Geralt dies or not and the game intro felt like it answered that question and the story continues from there. The diffirence is that Geralt knows he is a famous witcher even if he does not remember in detail his past. So what's the point of the first half of your post? We were dicussing openings not the rest of the game. The amnesia in KOTOR plays a much bigger part, or that being a Warden plays a huge role in the plot and characters always refrence that or your backstory. Either way I think you are graping at straws to find some differences. As for the second part, I don't really care, I think the media should stand by itself. Second of all what is it with The Witcher fans? Geralt is on the game box and in the previews, yet it is still a suprise that he is still alive. I suppose that if you avoided all the previews and then pirated the game than I can see playing as Geralt as suprising.

 With what should i start? Should i start with the famous box that shows that alll bioware games have so man similarities? Or should i say that whoever is not looking at the previews= pirating the game? Which is the most idiotic thing of an assumption i heard in my entire life? I pointed out why, yet you took it all wrong and make assumptions. Its not that Geralt is alive, its the feeling that moment gives you when you are a fan of the series, if you dont know anything about the books then ofcourse the intro will seem weak to you since you dont know what happen before that and you get no immersion at all. I will just leave it at that and wont bother with it again. Please Log In to post.
