the only thing i like about xbox live is that you can form parties. that's about all i like about xbox live itself. The only other thing about xbox live i like is that more people use mics. it can also be a con but at least more people are sociable. Probably because buying xbox live sometimes come with a mic so maybe that's why its more common. The way i see it, there are the same amount of annoying people on xbox live and pc only on the pc, more of the annoying people have mics while on the 360 the same amount of annoying people have mics but a larger amount of not annoying people have mics.
im not sure that made sense but you have to admit, having a buddy system like that would be pretty convenient. like getting your buddies into a gruop instead of you all trying to join one server seperately, but that's like the only thing that was unique about xbox live.
I agree with the TC.
I just want a platform to freakin win already.Â
Yea yea all you guys are gonna go onto me with the "teh choices!!!" and stuff like that , but well guess what.
I'm tired of having to use multiple programs. I want a unified system. I agree live and PSN has a thing going here.
That is why I want a freakin platform to win already! May it be Steam, GFWL, or Impulse, someone become standard!!! (I want Impulse myself).
What PC Gaming needs is a universal online system.
I like steam and all but I like choice better. With choice, I have the ability to use what ever program/system I please. That means I can get the best for my money/weigh the different aspects of the program. Yes, Steam is doing good, Impulse looks interesting but why would we need just 1 format? The PC is an open format system. Meaning anyone can come in and produce something.
That being said, I'd prefer more innovation and with competition inovation is born. XBL competes with PSN but neither competes really with the PC. So why create a standard that will only become stagnant over time?
Xbox Live is so easy to access and use.. and with the new fall dashboard update, it's going to be easier. Menus are simplified and searching for downloadable content for a game, will be just a click of a button. Not to mention, it looks nice and neat. Steam is pretty good, it's not too shabby. It could use some work, but it's not as bad as PSN. PSN tries to do too many things. Notice how easy it is to go into Xbox Live, change the display resolution, family settings, etc.. PSN, makes you look really hard for each option. The best experience for me so far is XBL. I hope they improve Windows Live. For example, I have no clue how to access Windows Live while playing Left 4 Dead, which is a steam game. I'd like my achievements to show up on my gamertag.. If anyone knows how, I would really appreciate it. Cheers.
But the most important feature that I would like is for windows live players to be able to play with Xbox Live players. Shadowrun did that.. but I would like for it to be implemented with every multiplayer game.

You see, us PC gamers really don't care about achievements. I would say a good 95% of us don't care.Â
For the most part I agree.
I finally tried out Windows Live after getting Fallout 3 and I really liked the way it worked within the game and added achievements you could see in your Xbox Live account. I haven't tried out online play matching with Windows Live yet so I can't say how good it is. Then Steam added achievements to their system with the release of the Orange Box, mix that with the online play matching and it's a pretty good system. Like the consoles it is nice to have different online systems to chose from since it gives you a slightly different experience instead of the same thing all the time. However a more steamlined process would be nice.

Maybe not for PC exclusives, but for multiplatform games, yes. I certainly do and the person above me cares. Achievements are nice little rewards for doing stuff in the game. It's a fun way of giving a game more replay value without making it tedious and boring, imo. I don't know, I like it.

Personally, I hate achievements. It's ruins online games when you try to play for fun or even have a serious game and all you have is 4 people off in the corner just grinding achievements and not participating in the game itself.
i'd be totally fine with Steam taking over PC online gaming, but not Live. I just rlly don't like it for a variety of reasons. Achievements aren't rlly that great anyways. One of the reasons that the PC is so unique is that we don't have to USE any particular system, we have the choice.

That's because you guys own consoles as well. We don't because we don't like consoles.Â

You must not like Valve then. Why did they add achievemnts to their games and it looks like the community loves them. Maybe you are the minority?

This guy knows not what he speaks of. I've been a PC gamer my entire life, played it before I even touched my first console games and I love achievements. I find myself trying to find PlayStation 3 games that have achievements just to add to my trophy collection.
Easier more streamlined friend/buddy list.
Easeir more streamlined censor/ban list.
Easier more streamlined achievements.
Easier more streamlined communication system.
Easier more streamlined profile.
That's all I ask. I think it would help PC gaming a lot more than harm it. If we want PC gaming to continue to grow, it needs to get with the times and implement ideas like this. Not every console ideas is a bad one, you know. :-/
