Thief 1/2 on a new system?

Can I get these two ancent games to work on a modern vista 8800gt system without major problems or even at all? Also, preferably in 1440/900 widescreen.

I have got them both working fully in 1440x900. I did have to do a bit of tweaking first to get it fully running. There are a large number of issues you may run into as you go about it. I'll link you to the forum I used which covers mostly all the issues and helped me through the problems I was having at first.

It's not easy, but it is possible. The links above are filled with info on how to do it. Just plan on committing an hour or two just trying to get them to work. In addition to referring to the links above, one of the first things you will want to do is download the K-lite codec pack if you don't have them installed yet on your pc. Without these, the cutscene videos are almost guaranteed to stop working at some point. I've been enjoying Thief fan missions on my Vista without any issues for a couple years now.
