I would much rather the modern setting than ww2 ect. but there are a few things i would like to see changed(or added) in CoD MW2, firstly i think the perfect game would be CoD:modern warfare crossed with crysis(minus the stupid aliens n robots that ruined crysis of course)

This is all for single player, i have not tried multi-player yet so I'm not sure if this is relevant.

-I would like to see a permanent on screen display during game play, like gun type, ammo (in clip and total), no.of grenades, health, radar, stance(crouch/upright/flat), holding TAB will show you objectives and the like and mabe a larger map and key points.

-Also, very important is controls, the CoD controls aren't all that customizable imo(to my liking anyway), eg. i want to change next and previous weapon by scrolling my mouse wheel up or down like i can in crysis, i know you can sort of do this already but it doesn't work all that good and its only previous(i think), but it also has to work better (smoother) you know how when you scroll your wheel it kinda clicks, well each click is a weapon.
A quick save button(F5) can come in handy, unless there is one already.

-Range counter on grenades (in meters away from you)

-a weapon customization in game menu, to add laser pointer, flash light, silencer, etc.
Oh and when your looking through a scope i can scroll my mouse wheel in for a little more zoom.

-a bit of humor from other characters eg. enemies in crysis yelling out funny one liners.

-nano-suit anyone? jk i loved the suit not sure if it will do CoD any favors.

-I wouldn't mind some vehicles either.

-in the current MW friendly AI tends to get a bit annoying at times, like get in your way and kill your targets.

i have gone blank, but yeah like i said cod:mw crossed with a bit of crysis would be ace! i loved modern warfare but was a bit disappointed with a few things (btw I played crysis before I played CoD, maybe i just got used to crysis game play/features/settings & controls)

p.s sorry for the last post, didn't think it would of been a problem, ill try again and say maybe add an 'attractive female' or 2 ;)

thanks

Kind of ironic saying you want Crysis to be like COD4 when some of the objectives in Crysis like Destroy the tanks using the rocket launcher, grab the documents, the tank vehicle section, the AA gun mission - seemed to be "inspired" by COD4 and MOH - anywho, there is a bit of controversy for you my friends now:

I like the idea of customising your weapons. Thats a good idea.

Another strong story. Very impressed with that in COD4.

More multiple pathways and multiple ways to complete objectives perhaps.

Less grenade spamming in Multiplayer!! Definitely!

Just plenty of variety. There is a lot wrong with the COD formula to me, as long as they come up with some fresh objectives and locations.

Why not just go play Crysis? The point of Modern Warfare is to be realistic. Not ad all the HUD's to make it unrealistic.

Also, you could cut down the importance/damage/imbaness of nades in multiplayer. Seriously. Cooking is so imba =)

Let's see... more open-ended combat gameplay design, REAL ******* A.I., a much longer campaign, a real war setting, a richer, more interesting colour palette are things I want to see.

i would like to see bigger MP maps, so you can really utilize a sniper rifle.

as for perks like last stand, im not gonna say get rid of them, but it needs to have a better optimized trigger.. for instance if i shoot you in the chest with a .50 cal, you dont lay down and pull out a pistol. you just die... but say i hit you in the leg with a round or two with an AK, then yea it is plausible you lay down and pull out your pistol.

these are my main concerns...

oh yeah and better optimization of maps so people cant get out of them and kill you from 50 feet below the map, shooting up, or 50 feet above the map (in mid air) shooting down...

hmm, one thing i'd truly love to see is destructable environments. When you shoot those thinner walls, It'd be sweet if they made the bullet hole go through so as though you can peep through and would also prove useful when engaging in close combat. And the destruction could be like Warmonger, now that would make CoD 4 MW 2 really sweet and will truly bring a feel of destruction in war.

how about multiplayer maps at night time so u have to use night vision more often

zombie game mode as-well actually using the mulitplayer maps this time

laser's on guns etc more accessories gas nades etc etc

you would have to have destructable buildings .. it would be legendary !

to stop grenade spamming i think grenades need to be heavier

well, i'ld love to see more interactive things, like instead of waiting for team-mate to opens doors, just shoot the door knob with some guns then storm the house.

Defiantly a range counter for nades. I would like to see the customization/ perks like socom. Instead of Juggernaut you would were thicker Kevlar and this would slow you down etc. Or for Bandoleer you would have a bullet bandoleer across your chest. This would add a lot more realism into the game and better customisation and every one in matches would look different, and thats good.

I would like to see bigger maps and more medium sized ones (no shipment),possibly vehicles like cars and tanks maybe, also new game modes like an ambush one or attacking/defending forts/building with more people on the attacking side to add realism, destructible enviormnts, being able to open doors move cars, better melee system like uing the butt of your gun and havin different kinds of knives, silenced sniper rifels, ability to change appearnce of your guy for whatever country ur on in multiplayer, being able to direct a small amount of soldiers in singleplayer, no martydrom/last stand/juggernaut, new kill streak bonuses like a wave of computer controlled reinforcemnts, longer sp, thats just a few

Go play Crysis. The rest of us will keep playing CoD over and over again because they are all just completely awesome.

List starting from most important:

Singleplayer:

1. Better AI (Tired of being shot by an enemy that is standing right next to a friendly)

2. Player customizes outfit for mission

3. More options to linear progression (instead of fighting a horde of units before moving on, perhaps a side alley to flank)

Mutliplayer:

1. More server customization (ability to restrict perks/weapons/etc.)

2. Less bullet penetration please... (I can understand plywood, but a foot of concrete... never).

3. More customization for weapons (instead of being restricted to 1 upgrade).

4. Zombie mode

5. Co-op

6. Better Rank System. Something like BF2 that would allow you to earn medals or track another players stats.

7. More mod friendly tools? (I haven't seen any mods for CoD4)

anything bigger than a 5.56 round goes through a cinder block with enough power to kill someone. found that out in USMC boot camp. didn't even have to go to battle for that piece of info.

But the bullet penetration in CoD4 seems completely indifferent to being plywood or cinder (even though cinder blocks are rather brittle, not to mention hollow).

I'm not entirely sure about this, but smaller bullets have better penetration (at least through skin). Larger bullets encounter more resistance and are much more likely to break up while traveling through the object. At the same time, smaller bullets have less momentum, so they wouldn't be nearly as lethal after passing through a cinder block.

I wouldn't bet my life on it though.

I guess if I had to change it, I'd ask for less buildings made of cinder blocks,

E=MC^2. M = Mass. the more mass you have, the more potential you have for energy. An AK-47 round can pierce an engine block. A M-60 round WILL pierce an engine block but mostly because the core of the rounds are harder. A 50-cal round will not only pierce an engine block but it can take out a tank when aimed at the proper spot and rip 20 lbs of flesh and bone from your back as it is exiting. The difference between the rounds is measured in grams... which is pretty miniscule compared to the energy difference between them. The more energy there is (the E on E=MC^2) the more resistance (cinder blocks) it takes to stop it. Any 'E' left over when it is done plowing through a cinder block is left to rip through your body. sand bags have far more potential for stoping energy than any solid non-metalic mass because of the same reason a cue ball in billiards heads a different direction when you break. A depeted uranium sabot round has so much mass and potential energy it will make a 6" hole on one side of an armored tank and an 8" hole on the other and suck anything out the other side that isn't metal through that hole.

I don't have any experience with firing weapons, but does the bullet actual cause the mass to disappear?

That's what I got from you using the E=MC^2, since that's changing mass into energy. I was thinking MV=MV, since most of the material would be 'pushed' out of the way of the bullet (Possibly both). I know that if you can fire a pistol round farther into ballistics gel and into water than you can a M1 Grand or .50cal. And larger bullets have a tendency to break up in water. I figured if it couldn't penetrate water without breaking up, then it couldn't penetrate solid concrete, which is much, much more dense. Maybe it was because it's fired at an angle,

I'm sure a bullet could penetrate at a 90degree angle, but some of these shots are 45 or even 30 degrees to the wall (in CoD4), which seems extremely unlikely to keep it's trajectory and still have the power to kill someone.

Id personaly like to see better AI single player wise, with the ability to custimize my character a little bit before missions Multiplayer Wise id say do away with the perk system and replace it with a character creation system where you outfit your character with different items such as Ghille(sp?) suits and different kinds of camo to choose from, along with some neat tools like heartbeat sensor, or night vision googles that actually work. Maps need to be made larger of course so that sniping would be a viable tactic and a day night system that can be set in server tools so that battles can have totally different situations occur, a server set weather system would be neat so that you could have rain effect your vision and wind blow bullets off of target :P

but water is much more consistant that concrete. sure concrete is heavier and harder...

but the concrete shatters, where as water is a constant flow in front of the bullet.

SP: Improved AI, A little bit more war sensation, Campaign - impressive as CoD4 and exciting as CoD.

MP: I hope there won't be CoDWW 1.1's full bugs, server options for NO helicopters, NO airstrikes and NO grenades (it'd be superb), allow colored names (as opposed to CoDWW).

A couple of things... the mass that is consumed and changed into energy is the gun powder, not the bullet. There are many types of energy. The potential energy of a gallon of water based on the individual oxygen and hydrogen atoms is enough to take out an office building. The energy from the gun powder in a round is changed to kinetic energy in the bullet.

Water is a bad example because it is a unique element. Water cannot compress, which means the harder you hit it, the harder it hits back. Which is why the 50-cal and 30.06 rounds fragment in the first foot of water but a .22 won't. Does that mean you would rather get hit with a .50 cal than a .22? A .45 round won't go as far into ballistics gel as a 9mm round but I can guarantee you that you would rather be shot with a 9mm.

As for the trajectory... the first round traveling at an angle may change trajectory if the density of the material is close to the density of the rounds. However, enough energy will be sent into the concrete to open the way for the other 20 rounds following behind it to take it out.

hmm, one thing i'd truly love to see is destructable environments. When you shoot those thinner walls, It'd be sweet if they made the bullet hole go through so as though you can peep through and would also prove useful when engaging in close combat. And the destruction could be like Warmonger, now that would make CoD 4 MW 2 really sweet and will truly bring a feel of destruction in war.mhofever

They said they think this is bad game design, since the player can easily screw up something and get stuck. I can't be arsed to find the interview, but some of you may remember.

I want Captain Price and less arabs.

Ah, ok. That's pretty interesting.

I know E=MC^2 is used for the gunpowder, I just couldn't tell that's what you were trying to use it for. I wouldn't want to be hit by a .50cal, but I was trying to say that size (by comparing it to a smaller bullet) isn't the main determinant of penetration power.

I guess malleability also plays a part in it. That's why water & sand is so much more effective than solids.

All I want is an excellent Campaign with Co-op included, and an improvement on the multiplayer (If thats possible) although the difference between Cod2 and Cod4 was huge and I don't see them pulling something like that off again.

well did you see them pulling it off back when cod2 first came off?

prolly not, so i think they can improve on it, we just dont know exactly how yet.

i love cod4. great game.

lol crysis and cod are 2 different games, all i am saying is that i liked some aspects of crysis that are not found in cod and would be nice to see some of them (and for those of you that want to be difficult, how about having an option to enable/disable/change these settings and features? that way we are all happy..but these aspects are mainly controls, HUD (which has nothing to do with realism since it is a GAME! and when you shoot in cod a HUD shows up briefly anyway, that's not realistic, is it? why not have it open all the time?)

I never said i wanted cod to be like crysis, i only made a reference to crysis because it was the only game i have played that would let me customize things the way I WANT IT..not the way the developers force me to have it.

forget the whole crysis thing, its just an example to what i am talking about.

if it's more realism your after, some more blood and gore would be the answer, amongst other things of course..

are my opinions really no good? or are you targeting me just because i made a reference to another game?

edit: also, i like some of the other idea's you guys are posting, i wouldn't hold my breath but hopefully they will at least be considered

what many people don't seem to realize is that CoD has always been very consistent in terms of design direction, which has been very successful. those who expect open-ended/sandbox gameplay from a CoD game need to understand that it's not what CoD is about.

anyway, what i would personally like to see in MW2 includes better AI, more weapons and a longer SP campaign. for multiplayer, CoD4 is already very good as it is, but more modification options for both weapons and outfit visual would be great.

They should just scrap the call of duity series, They have been dumbing down the series since cod2, PC gamers need to realise that infinity ward have no originality and are just rehashing the same crap every year, pure unrealistic arcade tripe.

-in the current MW friendly AI tends to get a bit annoying at times, like get in your way and kill your targets.

i have gone blank, but yeah like i said cod:mw crossed with a bit of crysis would be ace! i loved modern warfare but was a bit disappointed with a few things (btw I played crysis before I played CoD, maybe i just got used to crysis game play/features/settings & controls)

p.s sorry for the last post, didn't think it would of been a problem, ill try again and say maybe add an 'attractive female' or 2 ;)

thanks

paran0id

 Why dont you go and play crysis.. cod games were cod and will always be cod... linear, simple, realistic and no extra features to kill the gameplay, they dont betray their fans.. What id like to see in the next cod game is , a nice linear old school arcade shooter with good story like cod4 with no extra game play features and the size of cod2... than means longer single player campaign and wider maps, kinda like cod 2 but not wii.. pfff vehicles in cod

The combat in cod4 is nothing like real life combat, please learn what real combat is like before saying it is ''realistic'' real combat isnt a simple and linear affair. Please please for the love of god learn what the term realism means!.

Honestly I would love to see a semi-futuristic setting. Im not talking lasers and stuff or something as futuristic at BF2142, but you know....maybe 20-30 years in the future. I dont want any of that Land Warrior crap either, with fancy helmets and HUDs (like GRAW). Just keep it simple, but use stuff that is currently on the drawing board.

I would also, and call me crazy, like to see an open-world environment. I really enjoy the CoD games but they are just so damn...narrow! Something on Crysis's level in terms of open environments would be great, or even STALKER. This would also open up multiplayer matches quite a bit, in addition to vehicles.

For next COD i would like:

AI that is better than, spawn, run shoot, die.

Non-static enviroments and actual implementation of physics to the game world

Better ragdoll(more pronounced), if they even used it in the previous one.

Less linear levels, ie multiple paths

Non-cheap spawning AI that makes sp crap on harder difficulty's

A better story, one yoou actually care about and get involved in

Oh and not being able to shoot through thick brick walls, thick metal, stone etc but maybe add some destructability or at least meaty decals to make it more gratifying and satisfying.

[QUOTE="Swiftstrike5"][QUOTE="weirjf"]

anything bigger than a 5.56 round goes through a cinder block with enough power to kill someone. found that out in USMC boot camp. didn't even have to go to battle for that piece of info.

weirjf
But the bullet penetration in CoD4 seems completely indifferent to being plywood or cinder (even though cinder blocks are rather brittle, not to mention hollow). I'm not entirely sure about this, but smaller bullets have better penetration (at least through skin). Larger bullets encounter more resistance and are much more likely to break up while traveling through the object. At the same time, smaller bullets have less momentum and speed, so they wouldn't be nearly as lethal after passing through a cinder block. I wouldn't bet my life on it though.

E=MC^2. M = Mass. the more mass you have, the more potential you have for energy.

Much more simply, using an airsoft analogy, 0.12g firing at 330 fps, will have the same energy as the slower firing 0.20g, the FPS would be less, as it's heavier, but due to this weight, it still carries the same amount of energy. The gun fires at the same power constantly, the size of the bullet doesn't matter, it will still have the same energy, smaller - faster but less weight, heavier - slower but more weight.

That's the simpler version anyway.

Read here if you're interested in how FPS is calculated.

This is the patch improvements i posted on the Infinity Ward forums a bit back. (few months)

Remove martyrdom from the game

Add a map that needs night vision goggles, or at least some parts do

Longer names and ability to add colour/font styles to your name (i know it's possible, but make it more accessiable)

Make team killing off for the first 10 seconds, so people can escape the team killers on all servers.

Add more kill streak challenges, e.g. 10 and 15

Lower the weapon damage from grenade launchers, or make them just be able to fire like a normal thrown grenade, and explode a few seconds after

Overkill perk should let you carry 2 main weapons AND your pistol

Ghille armour should be available for snipers on all maps

The helicopter support should have the player as the machine gunner (removed from the map for a short period and put in the gunner seat), but a timer on how long it stays

ACOG scope should have a x2 zooming ability

Selectable fire modes, semi and automatic for most of the guns

If last stand remains unchanged, then the person who got them to last stand, should be credited with the kill.

Being able to choose what you want with your kill streak once you achieve a helicopter (e.g. you can still bring up a menu to use airstrike or UAV)

i can agree with most of these honestly.

not neccessarily that they need to change to these things, but alot of these would be nice if they did..

and i say add the option for thermal goggles over starlight.

Remove martyr perk. Limit nades. No more small maps like the one with the containers...god that is dreadful.
