Is it alot of fun still? I'm thinking about getting the originalHarden_hawk
I was thinking about doing the same thing a few weeks ago, but a couple of people I know told me that the game has been dominated by hacks and aimbots now, and it's generally a waste of money.

Then they are all full of crap. 1.6 is a very viable game.

Viable when you end up being beat just about every round because of some lame hacker? Full of crap? I guess you're talking about when it was still a free mod and how that had an excellent value? Pfff ...well, play the game now and then talk. In Counter Strike Source the hacking is NOT that dominant, so I can really recommend that one, but CS 1.6 is really history now as far as I'm concerned ... just too many kids fooling around with hacks.

Not if you are smart about what kind of servers you go to. I only go to a couple of severs where I know the clan members, so they always have an admin on. I have encountered very few hackers due to this, so you just gotta be smart about it.
well, I only can speak for CSS. There are a lot of hackers, but seriously, it's that that overwhelming. The same thing happens with almost every online fps after it's established itself. CSS has over 25,000 servers up and running, so it's not like you don't have choices, and you'll most likely find one without hackers pretty quickly because there are so many. I'm not even serious into this game though, it got boring after like a couple weeks, not the kind of game that's easy to play seriously. It's all about the aim, not about the movement.-Wheels-
You couldn't be more wrong, aiming has very little to do with how good you are att CS. Sure if you're just playing some public aiming might be all you need but in clan matches you need so much more.
You need to find good servers. I've had a few in the past that felt like a community. Find a server like that and the game is twice as good.
One word of caution though, prepare to get your ass put on the floor and kicked about the place for awhile. Getting into or back into counterstrike can be a frustrating time.
i don't know what about CS Source but the 1.6 has lot of hackers/cheaters - the VAC secure is worthlessPredatorRules
no its not, VAC is great alot better than punkbuster and 1.6 has the same amount of hackers and cheaters in every game with a large community

no it doesn't VAC is total crap - everyone already hacked that crap, punkbuster doing great work on stop hacking - like in F.E.A.R. Combat - it has great community - like 900 servers and i've met hackers only at private servers which they've changed the files and stuff
I play CSS and it is great fun. I have been playing Counter-Strike for about 5 years now and it never gets old for me. I take some time off here and there but it is alot of fun if you get a regular server with admins. aztecnero
yea just find a good server that you like or some of your friends go to. it will get boring after a month or 2 though...when that happens i suggest finding a team and doing some scriming or league play. since i got into that that is all i do know, hate pubbin :P
