Ugh. Nothing there warrants that level of Amp. You'd be better served by a lower end Onkyo and getting better speakers.rastanhow much would speakers cost that actually benefited from the amp?

About a couple thousand (at least) for a 5.1 set-up. I'd still recommend picking up the amp -- you're not paying a huge premium and it gives you plenty of overhead for future upgrades -- but you could definitely go with something cheaper if you'd rather save a couple hundred bucks or put the savings towards new speakers.
Why are you mixing speaker brands? That's one of the worst mistakes you can make. The Center Channel you chose is fine. Get yourself a complete klipsch set of speakers and the Onkyo 507.cspiffo
I've been looking at upgrading my HT as well from a Sony HtiB. I think I found the receiver i want (Denon AVR-789 not that its important) i understand its importanat that the 5 speakers match now, but how important is it that the speakers match the sub? Is it important at all if the speakers match the receiver?

The Sub doesn't really need to match, but I still like to stick with the same brand and build quality as the other speakers I have.@Jandurin
The speakers are the most important part of any setup. Even a cheap $150 5.1 Amp will sound good with good speakers attached to it. What is your actual budget for the system you wish to build. Maybe then we can help you a little better.
those Energy speakers look nice, and they are actually $400 on amazon. the only major downside considering the price point is that (according to cnet) the energys aren't available in single or 2 packs, only 5, so if i wanted to expand to 7.1 (i just don't have the space right now) I wouldn't be able to get matching speakers. Im still going to be concidering these for my upgrade, thanks :)
