I'm looking for a tv to replace my 4 year old 32 inch HDTV. I have about £600-700(without glasses) to spend on the purchase and I'm hopefully looking for something with a screen size between 42-50 inches. I'm not sure what technology is better and I'm completely lost between choosing Plasma/LED.

I will be mostly gaming on my PS3/Xbox 360 and I will be watching blu ray movies on my PS3.

I recommend a Panasonic Plasma. A GT25/30 or ST30 should do the trick.

You should check out the Panasonic Plasma ST30. I just recently purchased one of those for myself and am still waiting for it to arrive but I did a ton of research and this particular TV seems to be one of the very best out there for gaming. I would advise you to do a lot of online research before you pay for any TV, if you do enough research you will most likely get what you are really looking for in a TV. If you aren't in a hurry to get the new TV I'll be able to give you an honest review and let you know how I feel about the Panasonic ST30 when it gets here.

I'm not sure what you are asking, 6matt6; are you looking for recommendations or asking about 3D television in general?

The only way to decide if you want 3D is to go to a store and sit down and watch something, and not for five minutes. Spend some time and decide if you really want to be wearing those glasses for any length of time.

For the most part 3D isn't really catching on as much as manufacturers had hoped, and you'll probably get a higher-quality traditional television at the same price. It's all a matter of opinion, of course.

Good luck,

Boz

I am asking for recommendations. Sorry for the confusion. Figured if I was gonna upgrade I might as well make it a big one. I'm going by reviews and the GT30 seems to be the better TV but is slightly more while the ST30 offers similar performance at a lower pricepoint. I'll definitely be picking up either of those. Thanks guys.

You'll be very happy with the quick response and image quality of those TVs. I have a VT25 and it has the best picture that I've ever seen short of a Pioneer Kuro Elite. The difference is that my TV is 3d capable.

I can highly recommend the 42in Panasonic ST30. It is inexpensive and great quality for games and movies. The 3D works very well. I use mine all day and night for pc, ps3, 360 gaming and as a PC monitor. I even use the Nvidia 3D Play software for 3D PC games ( the only drawback to using a hdtv for 3D PC gaming is the resolution will be forced down to 720P, just like the consoles, but its not that big a deal ). The games is where you will find most of the use for 3D. There just are not enough quality movies in 3D. I have watched Tron, Resident Evil Afterlife, Avatar, Piranha 3D, Sanctum, and a bunch of CGI family / kid movies etc, and there are a few that stand out, but there is not much else to choose from. But i have spend tons of time playing Motorstorm Apocolypse, Killzone 3, and Resistance 3 in 3D. The glasses are getting cheaper too. Also remember, this plasma give excellent quality 2D picture too.
