is it ok for jogging? (i.e. not too bulky) and how is it for watching a movie?

Do not buy a hard drive player (the only one left is the iPod classic) if you plan to go jogging with it. You will break it pretty quickly. But I like my iPod classic. It sounds good to me, but I am far from an audiophile.

Sound quality is fine, but like others have said, you're more likely to break it if you're jogging with it on since it has a hard disk player.

I used my ipod video actively (jogging and other active exercise), and didn't really notice a problem, but if its something you're concerned about, go with one with flash memory.

Also, yes, you can use it as an external drive to store data other than music and whatnot.

ah yes. of course, its hard drive

well then, i guess i have to get flash. it has to be a 32gb one. it doesnt need a load of bells and whistles, just not to break, not really concerned about watching movies or anything, so video quality isnt a big deal.

im looking at the zen x-fi 32gb, because its new enough, relatively cheap and not too big. i would like a sony but they are just so damn expensive.

i would go for the x-fi2 but its touch screen, and apparently not all that great, and touchscreen on an mp3 player doesnt interest me.

im a little concerned about getting a zen again, cos my zen v plus 8gb acts up, and is really slow, annoying control stick as well.

i wish there was a 32gb ipod nano.

any other suggestions are welcome, i really dont want to spend a load of cash just for it to be a waste.
