This is why laptops for gaming are no good.

If you put Nitro GLYCERINE on a laptop (carefully) and lit it it would have been much bigger than that.....

I disagree. My laptop is great when it comes to gaming...I've got 2gb of DDR2 with an 8600GTS, and c2d 2.2ghz. It runs everything I play (CoD4, CS:S, WoW, etc.) at highest settings.

And I gurantee that cost you a hell of alot more than a desktop would have, it has crap battery and could heat your entire room.

And give it a year and it'll suck as much as an essex girl.

I brought a high end laptop a few years ago. It was great then came trying to find drivers for peice of junk could only ever find one update to the driver set. Tried 3rd party drivers which made big diffrence but were unstable. It took me away from PC gaming for a while/

It only cost me $900. But why would you even bother comparing the cost of a desktop to that of a laptop? They have totally different functions in terms of mobility. Yeah, and a year from now when I'm still playing WC3, SC, and WoW I won't be seeing much of a difference in terms of playability. No need to be a complete **** about it though, lol.

They have completely different functions in terms of mobility. But they are both computers. Plain and simple. They might be completely different in terms of mobility but essentialy they are just a desktop crammed into a smaller floorspace.

So yes, I will compare desktops and laptops.

From a purely gaming point of view, Desktop>laptop. Unless ofc you are only interested in playing old games or you can afford $3000 a year to upgrade a completely new lappy.

I thought this would be an outdated question.. well seems we still have to clarify that.

Naw, laptops ain't for gaming. Yes, they are for working (mainly).

You can't really tweak a laptop, it heats a lot, and costs a lot. Of course you can say there are gaming laptops, that's an undeniable fact, Alienware is there. But as long as there will be desktop computers, laptops will never get over them. Nowadays.. there are names for portable gaming. It's called PSP/DS.

It's all a matter of need. Sure a desktop will beat a comparably priced laptop any day (usually by a wide margin) but if you want/need the portability and STILL want to game then you have to look at "gaming" laptops. You just have to be aware that laptops are pretty much fixed in stone. What you buy is what you get so make sure you buy one that will last you for a while.
