I'm not sure if they could. The whole movement mechanics and combat system would have to change to make it a decent game, IMO. I can't stand the hack and slash combat system in TFU games. I don't like button combos and stiff, restricted movements during combat. It's too scripted.

I'm enjoying it so far but I agree, it doesn't feel as good as the first game and I did love the first game!

I will wait for Steam to offer it for £4 on a Steam Deal like I did with SW:FU. And they really need to make another Jedi Knight game.

I bought the first one for a fiver during a steam sale and never even finished it I was that bored by the game so as you can guess I am not exactly running out to buy the second one. I think the only way I can see myself playing the 2nd one is if Lucasarts actually pays me to play it.

Such a shame really I would have loved a Dark Forces/Jedi Knight remake but then I guess that gameplay doesn't appeal to the console crowd and that seems to be the audience Lucasarts chases these days.

Playing through the first TFU once during a rental was enough of that gameplay to last me a lifetime. Looks like there is no reason to consider this one either.

Yeah I rented the first one last year and was finished with it by the Wookie level. The controls and brawler type combos were really annoying. I never liked fighting games and TFU felt like a cross between a fighting game and a platformer, with overly stiff controls.. I'll be passing on this one as the consensus seems to be that the story is worse and the gameplay is the same.

the review didnt tell me much, games are gameplay first story second. Sure it helps if the story is great, but that isnt enough. The first one had a pretty good story, but the game sucked so much I didnt want to play through it at all... why would I when I could be watching a movie? When I see a review like this, I think ultra casual console style gamer. Even planescape torment, the video game with the best story ever would suck if the gameplay wasn't so awesome.

For me it's a given that the gameplay in a button-masher hack and slash type game isn't going to be anything special. I can't stand games where the combat is dominated by "combos" and what-not. Where each button I push can cause my character to go into a chain of motions that I can't stop. I much preferred the combat in Jedi Outcast and Academy. I also much preferred the implementation of force powers in those games to the over-the-top crap in TFU. So the only thing that could possibly have saved this game for me would have been the story. Since it doesn't have that either, failure.

I was expecting more or less the same of everything which would have been tolerable. I wasn't expecting story to take a dive (assuming what he says is true) to the level implied by the review. Shame really. : S

Ya know, parts of me feel that this engine would be better suited to a battlefront game. Maybe i'm just really desperate for a battlefront 3 but hey. The idea of having that level of gameplay in an MP battlefield style star wars games makes me giddy.

Seems ok, but I was hoping for it to be an improvement over the original.

I was really hoping they would redeem themselves. Despite the high sales figures, I really thought the first one was average at best. Clunky combat, terrible lock-on system, and spam-one-button boss fights. I can't help but feel like they rushed this one because they know people will buy it even if it sucks.

I'll probably get it when it goes on sale since I'm such a SW junkie. Really wish LucasArts actually gave a damn about making a proper sequel to their best selling game ever. I just don't get it.

According to who? Every review site I've seen has rated the first game higher than this new one.

The pc version yes, that right, pc version of Force unleashed 2 is a lot bettert than the first, i bought it today. but the game is not near as good as the first was. Same happend with Kane and lyncnh 2 lost planet 2 mafia 2 e.tc. the first games were great but the sequels were crap ESPECIALLY kane and lynch 2!
