I got a new video card (8800 GTS 320MB) and PSU (500W) and my computer crashes, not because of the GPU or PSU though.. So now I'm bulding a new rig but will be using my old monitor, kb/m and I'm going to add the old ram to it. I've chosen the case, CPU, more/better ram, hard drive and mobo. I need help with this rig to see if everything is compatible, best I can get for the prices, etc. My first question is if I add my old ram which is 533 mhz will it even help my performance if I use 2 gigs that are 1066? Second, what would I be able to OC the cpu to? Thanks for the help everyone!

If you buy the ram you listed instead of using your old ones then you should be able to overclock the cpu quite a bit. Just on the stock cpu cooler, you should hit 3.0-3.2ghz easy. As for compatablity, all the parts should work and there actually pretty nice quality.

Everything looks like it will work together fine and that CPU will OC well with that mobo/RAM.

I'm pretty sure the old RAM would be useless, but if you're going to be running a 64-bit OS, then I would suggest grabbing another gig or 2 of the new RAM to put in there.

PS- I guess you're not planning on SLI later? Just my opinion, but I always like to keep that open as an option.

Not really since 2gigs is plenty and it would actually underclock your new ram because ram in general has to run as fast as the slowest speed moldule. It would have to run at 1/2 the speed if you put it in with your old ram.

Yeah I thought about SLI but I'm holding off on that and will building a computer later on, couple of years maybe. The reason I'm building a new one is because firstly, it's slow and secondly I have the blue screen of death... I have a lot of music on my old computer and I don't want to lose it... is there anyway to fix the blue screen without having to take it to a shop? I booted to disc but it wouldn't boot... sort of way off topic.... but I don't want to lose it =(
