i just wanted a few more opinions on this game before i bought it, im tossing up on either it or company of heroes to kill the time leading up to cod4 and/ or hellgate london

i was just wondering what peoples personal favorites were, that is if you managed to play both games, i played ground control 2 a lot when it came out and they seem to be pretty similar, is this true or not? i just wanted to know its just that ground control was fun for a while then just got boring so yeah, any opinions?

cheers :D

The game so far for me is just amazing! The graphics are just beautiful, and let me tell you it's pretty hard to satisfy me. But this game is definitely a must get.

Well, given the choice I would pick Hellgate hands down. Mainly due to the fact that my favorite genres are rpgs and fps'. That said, WiC does look really good. Squad level combat in a full scale battle is appealing for sure, not to mention the graphics look pretty good for a strategy game. I'm pretty sure I'll end up buying both games.

lol ok, maybe I'm not being much help here. I would say if you like rpgs more go with Hellgate: London, but if tactics are more your thing pick up WiC. :)

Wic is definately worth a buy. Great single player campaign plus one of the best multiplayer gameplay in rts ever. Read few of the reviews or download the demo.

Think 9.5 is a lil bit too much ,i find it amazing, the explosions are like nothing u've ever seen ,

tiberium wars is a lot more entertaining i think , still wic might just still have a chance to impress ( me )

WHY do CoH fans have to bash WiC? I'm a CoH fan and I like BOTH games. Sheesh....atleast all the "CoH>>>>WiC" topics on the WiC board got deleted.

Those CoH fanboys are getting a bit annoying, they dont even provide valid reasons for their claims, and it often shows that they have barely played WIC. Both games are loads of fun imo, but WIC takes the crown.

I like both CoH and WiC for what they are. CoH has somewhat better infantry combat but WiC is just has somewhat more carnage on the battlefield with tanks, choppers and nukes obviously. i haven't got WiC yet but it played a lot like gc2 but I'm going to order it probably sometime soon, so I'll reserve whatever game I think is better until then.

WiC is awesome, though you'll need a powerful rig to play it with the deatils maxed out.I found that the game is not very optimized. There is a lot of people with good cards complaining of low framerates. I played the demo on medium with my card and got around 22-24 fps. But the retail game doesnt work that good.

If you have a good rig, go for it. The single player looks great and the multiplayer is even better

I second that. WiC takes the crown here IMO. Its easier, it doesnt have the same amount of micromanagement that CoH has

I've had a go on the Wic demo and I don't understand the hype, GS giving it 9.5 is far too generous.

It felt like I was playing C&C from 1999 with shinergraphics, but without the base building and resource gathering. It's an 8 at best, hardly anything innovative.

Obviously my rating can only extend as far as the demo but the demo pretty much shows what the game has to offer in it's entirety. I don't see much difference from the orginal C&C.

Saying that its very similar if you take out almost all the features of C&C is not very accurate. I mean, I find it hard to compare one game to another minus some/all of its features. Its like saying that NFS Most Wanted is just like GTR 2, except for the accurate car models/realism options/racing tracks.

Anyway, I respect your opinion. I'll say it again: not all players will like this game. I think that the game is awesome, though the gameplay might be too frantic for some players

How long did you play? You should play this atleast 5 hours in multiplayer to get a feel for it.

It's only my opinion ok. I used to be a massive C & C fan and in my eyes they have more similarities than differences and therefore comparable. I didn't say it was a bad game, I just thought giving it 9.5 was over hyping it, again just my opinion ;)

Good good game. Its one of those, hey I'll start match real quick then you keep playing cause you almost won the last round. Then all of a sudden 2 hours went by type of games. Very nice game, and balance on units is decent. A recommended buy for 2007.

I have mixed feelings about this one (judging by demo only). The game looks gorgeous and the explosions are the best in any RTS period. However, multiplayer may not be for everyone. Its oriented on teamwork and on the rock-paper-scizzors concept. One aspect is good against another but also sucks against a different one. I need to play it a bit more to see if its really worth getting it in the end.

I just downloaded the WiC demo, the game scales so far back that the trees become sprites. Anyways going byjust the demos (I do own the full CoH game) CoH was more enjoyablealthough I found that I wasn't wishing thattheir was an execution command in WiC as I was in CoH against the idiot units.

Edit: GS Forums keep on deleting my spaces and turning three words into one

Very good game. The combat is much less tactical than, say, Company of Heroes, but that doesn't make the game any less fun! Infact for those that arn't as fond of micromanagement or controlling every individual skirmish, I'd say World in Conflict is definently for you, the overall strategy is still very much intact and the game is much larger is scale than most RTS games (Supreme Commander aside).

The end result is a simple and easy to pick up game that nevertheless is extremely fun to play and still strategically stimulating without forcing players to get into the nittle little details of every fight unless they absolutely want to. Plus the grand scale and dramatic special abilities ensures the multiplayer and singleplayer matches feel less like two or more little bases fighting it out but instead a full out war! Singeplayer campaign is extremely well done and the graphics are amazing to watch, the explosions especially are gorgeous to watch.

I like it! I'm still more of a fan of Company of Heroes, but that's because I'm just a sucker for micromanagement. World in Conflict however is undeniably an amazing game that no doubt will appeal to almost anyone. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play the game a bit more. World in Conflict is a winner, I agree with the Gamespot review entierly!

Played both games and I would have to say they over rated it like Halo 2. Better off getting COH unless you just like calling in one group of guys and watching them die then call in another.

Dude if you could teach your mom to play either COH or WIC which one would be easier? WIC more of an action game then a RTS. They add shiny new graphics but no physics engine I am very disappointed from a god like 9.5 rating. 9.5 come this should be like the next CAC or StarCraft 2 rating but it feels like a jump back in RTS gaming. It's like o dang I lost all my tanks! Np I'll just call in more cuz I'll just watch them die 2. Then Ill do it over and over until I find a reason not to play this game anymore. I then will pretend I'am not playing a dumed down version of Ground Control 2.

Isn't that RTS games in general. I mean your same logic could be applied to base building games...."oh my infantry and tanks died, i'll just make some more at my base, then do it over and over." . What do you mean no physics system? whole towns get destroyed and the ground beneath your forces can be torn up to pieces. It is not a jump back in RTS, it is just another style, WIC focuses on pure action and tactics, if you cannot work with your other team mates playing other roles, you are done for.

Wic is easy to get into but also packs loads of depht, especially when it comes down to multiplayer. If you think the gameplay is all about getting your units in the battlefield and watching them die you're doing something wrong. The multiplayer is one of the best experiences in an rts game ever. Having a match with friends is really intense and rewarding. With random ppl however it can be frustrating but also very rewarding if you happen to experience teamwork in a match.

Real RTS games you command bigger groups and Troop losses are a major hit on you not a 3min respond. It's like ha noob I just killed your troops owned by my skills. Wait what's this you got them all back in 3MINS! Dang now you killed my dudes. Wait till I get my dudes back in 3Mins and I'll then get you back. Can a Tank take down a building as they do in COH were parts come off the building bit by bit were the tank shoots? WIC has a very basic system. You drop a bomb and the building blows up the same way. You hit troops with shelling they just die on the floor. Can you upgrade your units adding more different tactics and why only control a small group of 5 different unit types? Only really difference in WIC of units is that the more you spend on them the more dmg they do and can take. They may have a max of 1 skill or 2 if their lucky. Just watching a battle of 2 Tanks vsing 3 anti tank troops in buildings with COH is more crazier then WIC.

Every battle starts to feels the same.

Unit detail Way better in COH.

COH has way better physics and interesting looking battles if just even INF vs. INF.

Every unit in COH has rag doll physics.

Troops can only use Buildings and trees for cover not real life in game cover like other objects.

Battles also look more real in COH were in WIC your Troops never really miss a shot.

There is really no Difference between the 2 sides. If you played COH there's a major differences. Both sides in COH get their own 3 sets of skill trees were in WIC both sides share the only 1 skill tree and their both the same.

WiC is amazing fun for the first month... after that it's one of the most repetitive boring predictable games around. Especially if you play a single role for competitive play.
