There are a lot of rumors on the net right now about THQ and the problems they seem to be having.

Notice this is just rumors at the moment and nothing is confirmed.

There is talk about that they have droped their entire 2014 line up, including the warhammer 40k MMO.

So people, what do we think about this then?

Edit: It wont let me hyperlink today =/

A shame, they make good games. Good deals also for PC games.

The worse that can happen is EA buying their franchises.

They are a good candidate for a buyout. Let's see who picks them up.

EA: Honey I'm home! You will never guess what I bought. I saw THQ on sale and just had to pick it up.
SHEA: Meh..Just throw it with the rest of them...

I'd hope that a publisher that actually knows how to handle advertising like Activision picks up Volition, inc. and Relic because THQ has had a tendency to blame poor game sales on the games themselves when they're nearly as awful as the patent trolls known as Interplay when it comes to advertising for games.

I hope for a good publisher to pick up Relic.Elann2008

Relic is Warhammer factory so Games Workshop would be a good buyer. The people that made CoH left the studio years ago (you can find them at Smoking Gun Interactive).

Vigil are f*cked, they were in charge of the MMO. I don't think Darksiders can save them.

Volition and Saints Row could be attractive for a publisher that lacks a GTA clone.

That new Montreal studio is safe, everybody would love owning it due to the massive talent and tax cuts there.

Also Crytek might as well run with the Homefront IP now that they're working on Homefront 2.

Everybody else under THQ, well, it's a tough world...

Wouldn't be surprised if true, but still very sad. They picked up a lot of games I liked but went under the radar of too many players.

I think most people hope that the rumors are false, but tbh it dosent look that way if you look at THQ´s stocks.

Sadly THQ is being too slow with their contracts, ,they should be more aggressive, they don't publish any huge developer and having a few pretty know developers (like Relic and Volition) and some unknown isn't going to keep anyone in the business. Hopefully they get on back on track, worst case scenario I at least hope their developers won't have problems finding other publishers (God save them if anyone ends up with Atari).

Hmmm... Interesting... 1. Buy THQ stocks 2. Fabricate article at Kotaku: EA buys THQ 3. ???? 4. Profit

If it is true I hope EA or Ubisoft aren't interested in buying their franchises. As to Activision, I doubt they would do that unless they want to do Call of Warhammer.

I wouldn't worry for two seconds about any Warhammer properties. It's a hot commodity and will be snatched up quite fast.

EDIT: Unless the license is purchased by EA, in which case abandon all hope.

This thing exploded hours ago and THQ made no comment. It doesn't matter if it's Sunday when the entire Internet is buzzing with rumours of their bankruptcy (which come on, was obvious for a while). They should answer. Some people on NeoGAF confirm that something's very wrong at THQ.

Tomorrow morning their stock is going to tank so bad... They're already worth less than 50 million dollars (the confirmed budget of their own Dark Millenium lololololo). Even if they didn't cancel anything it's a disaster and they're running on fumes.

Agreed, based on their stock performance the past 5 years ($35 down to $0.66) something is very wrong in THQ-land. Not to make light of their misfortune, but I can't help but think some of this could have been avoided if they had greenlighted Homeworld 3. My only hope at this point is someone decent picks up Relic and Volition (no real doubts there) and Vigil's MMO work finds its way to a better home.

Relic and Volition are imo among the generation's best studios... hopefully this is jus a rumour, if not, i hope another publisher is smart enough to pick them up.

Wishful thinking i guess. I just hope that the great PC exclusives from Relic (Dawn of War, Company of Heroes) stays on the PC. Valve could be a great distributor of upcoming sequels to those games. Maybe even the annoying Games for Windows stuff in Warhammer would go away :)

Best case scenario: Voalition makes Freespace 3, distributed on Steam, owned by Valve :)

It probably won't be THAT bad. But i'm afraid that lots of the pc exclusives are heading into an uncertain future if EA gets their paws on the rights.

Lame, more and more companies will be eaten up by Activison-Blizzard and EA, and the consumers suffer for it. Let's hope it doesn't happen to THQ :(

There's no way that could happen, it would be so awesome we'd need to wear sunglasses for an entire year after the event :P At least with Activision-Blizzard the games would get proper advertisement and the same with EA. THQ is bad with marketing.

I have to agree. I never see any advertising or campaigns for any of their games. Maybe the occasional banner ad on a website, but that's pretty much it.
