What are some MMOGs, other than Runescape, which take a long... long time to level?

Runescape's community is utterly revolting, and the graphics are quite the eyesore to anyone not living in a cave for the past 10 years, playing games from the 90s. However, I love the skill system. I love how it takes months and months on end to get to a high level with any given skill.

World of Warcraft is just ridiculously easy to level skills in. And with the recent patch to it, leveling your character is even easier. Anyone with money can get to the maximum skill level in every skill possible in less than a day.

Other than those two, I've never tried an MMOG. Any suggestions to get the best of both worlds? By the way, the community of ANY MMOG is going to be a joke, there's no getting around that, I know.

One I played was EVE. Not a bad game, but it was a slow paced one at the begining. You can get a trial on gamespot. The patches have improved the game since its release.

If you want a game that takes a really long time to level, Lineage II will do it for you.

I second EVE. I would agree with lineage II, but I'm assuming you're looking for something fun.

Lineage II is like rubbing your face on concrete, so if you're the type of person who enjoys that - go for it (basically your typical Korean MMO grind fest).

Eve is pretty much the game if you want something with more length to it; I guarentee you will never see cap. I'd say you should try out all the MMOs you can get free trials for (EQ2, Conan is doing frequent technical betas, LoTRO).

Eve Online is quite possibly the most harcore MMO around, and not for someone just getting off Runsescape. Its got a massive learning curve and you have to have the patience of a saint, but the community is the greatest I've ever seen. You will NEVER get cap in Eve, as it is impossible within a lifetime, and you probably wouldn't want to either as the game uses its own leveling system. Read my revire of it. The GS review is so old and out dated.

EVE is fantastic. You'll most likely never reach max training in everything. Whats better, is that you can play it hardcore or casual, and its amazing. Sometimes I take a fighting ship out and hunt rats, sometimes I mine asteroid belts in 0.7 space while reading a book. The graphic update incoming, as well as the ability to soon leave your ship and walk around spaceports etc shows that the game is still heavily supported, and will continue to be.

Yup, EVE. You won't be leveling any faster than others.

I'm troubled by your misanthropic Weltanschauung and by what appears to be a severe time-management capability dysfunction. But if you're independently wealthy and/or immortal, then by all means enjoy your peculiar taste in leisurely pursuits.
