Well I've pretty much ignored Graphics since my 9600GT, as it still holds up fine on every game. Now that I have a job though, might as well upgrade. What's new here in graphics? ATI or Nvidia? Which cards? Also, will there be any new ones coming I should wait for a while for?

Like I've posted before on other threads, check here for the graphics card hierarchy chart

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-radeon,2218-6.html

One side is nVidia the other side is ATi as you can see nVidia leads the single card set ups there. For middle GPU's both companies are basically even as they have a video card to match the other company, and vice versa.

Well the new GTS/GTX series have been out 4 a while, the gtx295 has been on the market for a while, and the new 4890 just got released, like last week.

Evry1 seems to get the gts250, its a renamed 9800gtx+ and uses less power.

The 260's r still g8, and so r the 4870's/4850's

Any1 got an ETA on the nvidia 300/ati 5000 series?

hey redxsniper, now when I installed my 4890 it took just a little longer for my computer to boot up the first couple times. Once it booted up it was off to the races. Man I crossfired this with my 4870 1 gig and it owns Crysis. Don't forget to download drivers and CCC from ATI website and set your fans.

This depends on your price range. I'd recommend an Nvidia Geforce GTX 275. Most benchmarks are showing it slightly FASTER than the GTX 280. And it costs between $240-$270. Slightly faster than the ATI 4890 in some tests too. I did see a comparison between the 2 on techreport.com that favored the Radeon, but that's pretty inconsistent with most other reviews I read. Can't really go wrong with either card.

If you don't want to spend quite that much, an ATI 4870 or a Geforce GTX 260 core 216 would be a beast too.

So it sounds like the 4890 or the 275. I already have Nvidia, so if they don't differ by much it'd be easier to stick with that......or would it?

I've always been an Nvidia guy, so of course I'll say to get the GTX 275 or GTX 260 core 216.. But you'll see just as many people on here that like ATI, and there's nothing wrong with a 4870 or 4890.

What kind of power supply are you running?
