I am trying to find out if Windows XP has any sort of option that will allow me to set it to where it will boot up automatically at say 8am for work. If this is not possible I am sure my bios can do it. Please let me know.

Thanks

Sorry, I only know about a program for shutting down at a specific time (Switch Off).

If the computer is actually turned off and not in standby or sleep mode, then you'd have to hope that your BIOS has an option for setting the computer to turn on at the same time every day. I think this feature is not very common, but I've had at least one desktop that had it. As for shutting down, you can look into the built-in command line tool called shutdown if you don't want to install any additional software.

If you do leave your computer in standby or sleep mode, then waking it up when it's time for work is usually as easy as clicking the mouse, pushing a key, or for notebooks - opening the lid. If everything on your computer (hardware, software, and drivers) works correctly with standby or sleep mode, it should take only a few seconds for the computer to be ready.

I often use sleep mode on my work computer, which is a notebook. I hardly ever shut it off. Instead I just unplug it and close the lid, as it is configured to go to sleep when the lid is closed while on battery power. Then I toss it in my bag and go home. The next day when I open the lid, it wakes up and is ready to use in moments.

I wouldn't set up timed shut down on it, though. I can't have it tell me it's turning off or going to sleep when I might be staying late that day to finish something up.
