For RPGs I couldn't care less about multiplayer, strategy games are better for multiplayer (except for Total War), and shooters are kind of mixed, some are fun by yourself like ArmA (and hopefully ArmA 2) and also fun online. Others like CoD are better multiplayer (After CoD2 anyway, 2 was the best sp and mp of any of them) Some fps like Unreal Tourney are obviously built for mp, but overall, I prefer a strong story and character game, whether that is sp or mp doesn't really make much of a difference to me, as long as it is delivered well and I can have lots of fun and make my purchease worth the money (something very difficult to do nowadays)

I think fallout 3 is the exception to that rule - I started playing it but am very time poor. So for now it's just the odd race I can squeeze in of burnout paradise.

I personally don't like multiplayer games, unless it's co-op. And in any case, I prefer single player games by far.

Which is why I'm not that interested in modern games anymore. As you said, times have changed and so has the target audience. Apparently I don't belong in it anymore.

Time has changed? Life has changed! :D Now it's almost impossible to sell a game without multiplayer cuz multiplayer is a really cool thing. Though maybe ur right - gamedesigners get sloopy when creating single player campaigns, cuz they realize that gamers 'll spent much more time playing online.

Multiplayer and co-op aren't the be all and end all of gaming. I couldn't care less about it. I remember playing a game for months, (secret of monkey island) and getting stuck with no internet to help. It was very rewarding to finish a game back then. Nowadays, games are simple and there's a lot of hand holding.

Oh man, the time spent staring at the screen during adventure games, and that moment when you finally figure out what to do. You're right, the kind of satisfaction that used to bring is hard to come by these days.

hehe now a days if u stuck somewhere in the game .. we read walkthorugh and solved :p

i remember playing first silent hill and really still remember that game a greatest game i played :)

now a days game is less challanging .. only a few games that comes with a promise ..

i also dont like one thing about sites .. if game is good and it have no multiplayer in it so it will get low scores why ? this may be the also reason to make multiplayer for good scroes ?

single player for me, but multiplayer is always welcome in a game, can you imagine playing shooters for 40hrs? Shooters aren't meant to be any longer then 15-20hrs tops, multiplayer adds replay value to the game without making the single player longer just for the sake of it.
