i keep thinking about picking up titan quest, im just deep into too many games right now including wow, which i know is an mmo but similar in some respects.
How are the visuals? Ive heard they are pretty.

The visuals are pretty nice, but oddly enough, the game can be a bit of a resource hog.
Titan Quest is good for what it offers, but it could be better. As for comparing it to Diablo 2.....well, what Action/Adventure/Hack'n Slash RPG out today isn't compared to Diablo 2?
If you want my honest opinion on Titan Quest, check out my review:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/titanquest/player_review.html?id=420568
I could only bring myself to make it through the beginner difficulty....for the life of me I can't get myself to go through Epic, let alone start it.
I have yet to do more then dabble in online play, but from what I have done, it's pretty entertaining.
Diablo 2 was deeper. The story was better... and from my opinion, the items were better in Diablo 2 (in TQ, im unable to get a weapon that does more that 35 damage, even though im in level 20. While in D2, I remember having an pike that did around 60 max damage while going through level 22 or 23 with my paladin).
I think there are 2 main differences between D2 and TQ.
The first one are the graphics: D2 is sprite based and TQ is completely 3D
The second one (and most important), is the character development: D2 has set classes with a predetermined set of spells (auras and defensive spells for the paladin, strenght and offensive spells for the barbarian, elemental damage spells for the sorceress), while in TQ you start with a "guy", and you customize it with the different masteris (which means that you can have opposing treats in your character, like going for the defensive and offensive masteries, or something like that).
Titan's Quaest is one of the reaons I'm weary of new game's release. This game crashed more often after I patched it. I had to reinstall and play the unpatched version to keep it from crashing...Anyone having problems after patching? calvinphoonI have yet to experience a crash.

I had a few crashes before i patched the game (i lost a level 3 character due to the last crash corrupting the save file)
Titan Quest is among my favorite games...I have played it who knows how many times since release...in fact I started playing again not long ago and just got a Warden to Epic. Regarding Diablo 2, it's an amazing game that pretty much created this genre. But it's pretty old now. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy it, but if REALLY dated graphics and gameplay bother you I would skip it and wait for Diablo 3.
Personally I think Titan Quest does so many things better than DII anyways...the classes/skills are more diverse (dual class system), physics system adds more fun to combat, graphics are better (obviously), controls are 10X better (skill bar, fluid movement, ect), items are more diverse especially in looks, and some other things. Unfortunately TQ has two major flaws that DII spanks it in. Number one is story and presentation. Diablo's story/cutscenes are just so well done you have to watch them everytime you play. The atmosphere is fantastic too really bringing the player in. And the second, and more important flaw, is no closed online support. While there are still plenty of people playing TQ online and cheat free (by choice) due to the open nature of the online the game was a cheaters paradise which really killed it.
Anyways, look me up if you want to play some cheat-free online games. At them moment I only have a level 40 to play with but I was thinking about making a new character anyways.
for the graphics complaints, the Diablo team is working on a 1.13 patch based on player requests and one of the primary is a graphics update... so there's still hope

Depends on what source you get it from. The Diablo team is completely quiet about it, so there are a bunch of official unofficial comments from the Diablo team. There is supposed to be a resolution update but there are also rumors of a texture update. Since rumors is all we have... I guess that's all we have to go on.
As much as I would like this to be true I doubt there is any update for Diablo II still in development. At least graphics wise. I only say this b/c they are working on Diablo III now, why would they release something to steal any of that thunder?
Yeah I hope the do give it some graphical love :)
1680X1050 resolution support would be fantastic!

Read the link, it's definetly true. And D3 is so far off at this point they ain't stealing any thunder...in fact it makes perfect business sense. First of all, D2 STILL sells to this day...so patching it will probably bring back many even even some new people into the fold. And secondly, they are keeping interests in their brands, so working on D2 potentially increases interest in D3.
That's a good way to look at it man, I never really thought of that way.
I still think I'll disagree some though for the simple fact that there has been a resolution patch in "development" for quite some time now. Over a year ago when I reinstalled the thing I came across the same news. I just really don't think they are going to put anyone on it as it'd be a waste of man power business wise. Yes it would rock for us, but as you said the game STILL sells, obviously they don't need to do anything to the game.
They won't put many people on the project, I'm guessing less than 10 and through their work they'll get more copies sold for Diablo 3, as Dnuggs said, because of old players that got interested in the series again, because of new players that got sick of it because of the outdated graphics and because of new players that always heard about it being so good but they didn't get it because of the graphics, the advantages would be greater than just releasing Diablo 3 for those that want it or know about it. When they release it (because they will sooner or later) I'm sure it will be something to rival the last uproar caused by the announcement of D3 when most people rushed to buy D2 and LoD :P even I did (again). That's a good way to look at it man, I never really thought of that way.

I've been having a great time with Titan Quest, but there will always be a special place for D2 in my hd (haha),
Titan's quest single player > D2's single player
D2's online > Titan quest online
That is of course my personal opinion (and in truth, i havn't played all the much titan quest online)
but i just wanted to add that you should look up the "Lilith Masteries" mod for titan quest, it almost makes it into a new game with entirely different quests/story and new skills/classes
Edit: Hmm.....i just noticed this was started in Feb. 2007, awesome.......

It wouldn't. It would get more people to pull their copies of D2 out of the drawer and get more excited for D3.
Titans Quest is pretty cool. I just started playing with a friend today and so far the graphics, physics, and abundance of loot is awesome. there is alot of servers online. Some guy gave my friend and I some rings that gave +100% to everything, but we're holding back on using them since one shotting everything kind of takes the fun out of it.
As far as Diablo 2 it's also a great game. I would personaly get it over TQ, but TQ isn't a bad game.
Its likely one of the best isometric clickfest RPGs out there. Excellent environment, fun, yet grueling at times. Its my standby game; whenever im bored of everything Ill just put in an hour into Titan Quest.
One word of advice; finish your primary skill tree before taking a secondary, and focus on area of effect damage! It will make the game a lot easier

I agree, DIablo2 is better for the online and abttle.net, while Titans Quest has a better singleplayer/story imo.
Titan Quest is a Diablo 2 clone, except Titan Quest isn't half as good.KHAndAnime
clone? thats debatable, considering there really isnt much to the genre that allows one game to separate itself from another.
Nox = Diablo = Titan Quest = All other isometric clickfest RPGs
sure, dungeon siege and space siege brought a rotating camera but even they are the same.
at least from a technical standpoint. I mean lets see what the game all do...you click your mouse a lot, you choose from skills, you gain levels, you kill insnae amounts of mobs that either run up to you and die, or stand back and die, and you end up with heaps of gold and loot.
Titan Quest and Diablo are definately the two best of the genre though

actually there are lots of differences that can make the one game better than other, like variety of character classes, leveling up options, loot system, weapon armor system, item creation system etc. Just see Diablo 2's design and how it excelled in these areas making it one of the most addictive games everDiablo 2 is a much better game. I thought Titan Quest was pretty boring and never even got halfway through, while I loved Diablo 2 (even years after release). So yeah, it's worth it. [2]
I bought this game today(Titan Quest)and I have to say I am having a blast with it. I didnt think I would like it as much as I do and I was wondering if the Diablo series plays like this game? If it does, is Diablo 2 worth getting even as old as it is?kungfuchaosI actually felt that Titan Quest is a bit more...fun to play than D2. Maybe its just the whole "light-hearted" atmosphere of the game with its vivid colours. So chalk that one up as mere subjective preferences. But D2 had a lot better story and characters. It may be a bit dated now but considering thousands are still playing it, after what? 10 years? then its prolly a very good game.

I also appreciate your perspective...too often on these forum if someone likes another game better that automatically makes the other game crap. I once heard a wise man (woman actually :P ) say that a person's intelligence is directly reflected by the number of conflicting points of view he can entertain simultaneously on the same topic.
