Pretty much what I suspected. CoD with mechs as killstreak bonuses. The minion AI is on par with DOTA creeps and are just there as cannon fodder for the human controlled characters. So this is basically a MOBA-FPS hybrid, which is about as far away from what I want In a shooter as it is possible to get.

Best part is that all the TitanFall hypers Are out screaming "it is just an alpha!" Even though we are less than 2 months from launch.

lol TitanFail indeed. I can't wait for launch. Better go watch the video before EA rips it down.

And the Titanfall bashing continues from SerOlmy...

What did this game do to you? lol....

And CoD with Mechs? Sign me up.

Like I said before... gamers complained that COD and BF were always the same. Respawn try something new and gamers complain it's not like COD or BF. Oh the irony...

Like it or not mate, this game is going to sell well. All I ask for is for it to be optimized and not too many bugs like Ghosts and BF4 launched.

Some of the Call of Duty "style" will rub off on a game that they make. They did make Call of Duty games after all... When I watch Titanfall gameplay videos, it's not like I'm thinking of Call of Duty. I think it has enough going for it to be different and fun from what is offered on the market, even with Call of Duty included in that fold. I mean, it has freakin' mechs.

Actually the CoD-ness is the least of my problems with it. I just threw that in to be appropriately dismissive. It is the small player count and brain dead AI creeps that outnumbers the human controlled players 4 to 1 that is going to kill it it. As I have stated previously, this will be a ghost town 6 months after launch.

Have to wait and see how it plays.

Some of the best matches I've had on COD were with low numbers on both teams.

They said they tried with higher numbers and it put the balance and fun out of it.

Need to test it before I can give an opinion.

I don't think its Respawn studios choice to release it in March. It is probably EA's date.

The bot thing is really going to be hard to overcome for me. Looked like there are two types of bots, Grunts and Spectres? Grunts on the ground with low health and Spectres on rooftops with more health and anti-titan weapons? Not too sure.

What was kinda telling was how many Grunt kills there was vs people kills. In some cases it was 3 or 4 times more grunt kills per match than real opponent kills. So most of your time is actually being spent killing bots that crouch in the middle of the room and do almost no damage to you.

Grunts clearly follow the human players, most likely to make hot spots of action. Also perhaps it will mean you have to shoot pilots before grunts. Maybe people don't care? They just want to kill things more often and the grunts allow that. Hopefully there is a demo or beta on the PC so I can see how it actually functions.

rofl not a chance, it has so much hype behind it that it will be the next COD for years to come.... and aside from that, the people who have actually played it... meaning alpha testers, and gaming sites at conventions, are loving it.

you have only seen videos, and you are highly biased.... i think i will trust the people who have actually played it and have reported overwhelmingly positive impressions.

Game looks fun as hell, I honestly could care less about your need to bash it.

People are really just going to need to see how the bots feel to make their own decisions, personally I think it will be fine since it sounds like they want to take a MOBA approach to it in a sort of way.

Complaining about the COD Likeness is silly, there's a reason Call of Duty is so popular and that's because the Gunplay and overall feel of the series works VERY well which is why it hardly gets changed. In this case they've kept the bones of what makes Call of Duty great, and then added their own flavor into the mix.

Gotcha. I think the 6-player count is a bit small even with the mechs. From a design standpoint, I could see why they are trying to be more "focused." But at the same time, I feel like they're not taking enough of a risk by increasing that player count to like 10-12. Needless to say, I'm sure it had a lot to do with the overall map size and design and engine that resulted in comprising some of the game.

I'm really disappointed that in 2014, A.I. in video games are still far behind and other things like graphics and "movie effects" take priority over elements of the game that are more important.

Yeah... Homefront would like a word with you.

They are less than 2 months from launch. There has been no beta, no large group of players testing it out, and I seriously doubt there will be any kind of public beta before launch. The only people who have played the game has been at trade shows under heavily controlled circumstances. The press has been HEAVILY embargoed and almost no gameplay vids have been shown (certainly none with any kind of details on how a match plays out), no articles on how a match actually works or how the bots are handled.

So we are left to draw conclusions based on the little bit of information we do have since EA is keeping such a tight lid on this. It makes them look like they are covering up a shitty game, made worse by several high profile incidents of blatantly misleading marketing in the last year or so (Aliens:CM ring a bell?).

This game already looked horribly unappealing and with the crap that has come out this week it has just looked worse and worse. If my prediction that this is a full on MOBA-FPS hybrid then it is pretty much the least enjoyable thing they could do with a competitive shooter.

Like I said in the other thread you posted on.

Just make sure you NEVER play it, even if it gets good reviews.

Put your money where you mouth is if you think it's going to be that bad.

I thought you said in the other thread that this wasn't about you saying "I told you so"? What, now you want to show off in case you are right?

And honestly, what do I care what you say? I'm not judging the game till it's released. Heck, I don't even know if I'm going to buy the game or not. I will wait for reviews and if it's my cup of tea I might buy it... and then AFTER PLAYING IT, I will decide if I like it or not.

People keep saying that... the only way to do that is to play someone elses copy, because there is not going to be a demo/beta. Which is predicated on someone you know gambling on buying this before the reviews come out. And really how much are you going to be able to determine playing at a friends house for 15 minutes? And that is assuming it even WORKS at launch, which based on SImCity is far from certain.

As to the first part, my motivations are still seeing another big name EA game fall on it's face. They have ruined enough good series in the last few years and their business practices are damaging gaming as a whole. The "I told you so" is just a bonus.

A few points to make here:

- If I don't buy it, sooner or later it will either go down in price or have a free weekend

- As for working at launch, like I said I'm not getting it at launch so I'll buy it (if I do) after reviews and after the bugs have been ironed out

- I can play at a friends house for 30min and instantly tell if I'm going to like it or not. I'm not expecting the second coming of Jesus so I know what it brings and doesn't bring

- No idea why you keep comparing it to Sim City since it's totally different developers (don't give me the EA BS cause there are many great EA published games)

- Your motivations tell us the whole story. Basically you're an EA hater and even if they make a good game you won't recognize it

It looks fun to me. CoD has some of the best controls and feel out of any FPS (it better since it hasn't changed in 6 years haha) and if their combining that with fast paced futuristic gadgets and mechs then I'll give it a go.

I don't really understand the complaining about the AI, MOBA's have done it with great success in the competitive gaming community, I don't see why it couldn't be implemented in FPS's or at least why people wouldn't be willing to try it.

I feel like most the hate in this thread is just from PC elitist and EA haters, but I guess we'll see how it is in a couple of months.

Looks like the other available 40+ fps games available this generation... ofcourse closer to cod. I really REALLY find it hard to see why it stands out in a sea of the same old crap.

I often find when people say "cod has the best controls, or feels the best" often REALLY refer to how easy it is.... thats all it is over other FPS, stupidly large hit boxes, barely any recoil... so basic, so easy. so lame.

What? people are complaining because it looks like more CoD drivel... it could easily be what "cod furistic black ops 2" was meant to be.

you are clearly not reading the situation correctly.

If this is meant to be the modern "Unreal tournement" or "Quake" mix with cod... then count me out. looks generic and 1-track-mind as it gets. "plays like cod, with a few double jumps/wall runs ... and mechs... 12 player limit" just can't fathom how this is the direction that gets people ridiculously hyped.

and hes right, calling this alpha less than 2 months to release is an insult to any kind of software developement cycle. its more like "closed beta, but we removed texturs, so we call it alpha" .... load of marketing drivel.

I guess I'm late to the party, but it looks like the video got removed. Does no one get tired of bashing things they know very little about? BTW, I'm not a Titanfall fanboy as I have no plans currently to get the game day 1.

I feel like I've been burned too many times following these games during these leaks, previews, etc trying to piece it all together when it just seems like a waste of time. You never get the true picture. To me, it just makes sense to wait for the game to actually release and then judge it. But hey - I guess that's just me.

No, I was referring to how smooth everything flows like movement and aiming, just my opinion.

arma 3 for starters.

largest map in the gaming industry

as many 'bots' as you want or dont want.

100 players if you want or dont want

planes, submarines, ships, cars, military units you can control

very realistic graphics

you can create your own missions.

and that is just one I found, I dont spend a huge amount of time looking and that is literally the first game I found interesting in the FPS space when I started to look

I fail to see anything intresting about Titanfall and I fail to understand why anyone cares about that game.

How do you even compare those two games?

Arma is a large scale, sandbox war simulator and Titanfall is an arena FPS set in the future with mech. They are two very different games.

I would guess people care about the game because they think it looks fun...just a guess...

I guess I flat out do not understand.

regardless, just keep in mind if you win the debate you are still going to be playing that game while I am playing the other game....cheers!

Yes, you do not understand.

You can't compare something like Arma (which tries to be a realistic simulation) to an arcade FPS like Titanfall. Apples and Oranges. And then you say one is better than the other? they are completely different games which it's not possible to compare.

sorry but they are not that radically apart its not like I am comparing TatianFall to the Sims for **** sake.

anyway...not playing...not intrested...wish more people would look at other games.

Yes, it's like comparing Titanfall to the Sims, and that's what you don't understand.

The only similarities between the two is that they both have guns and you shoot people.

Go play Arma3 and then go play Call of Duty, come back and tell me they are similar (if you do think that then there is no more to say).

I don't know why you are so annoyed with people who want to play Titanfall? The Arma series has a huge following, and lots of people play it.

Now thats some funny ass shit.

I am just waiting for you to say Forza is NOT a racing simulator but Arma 3 is a miltiary simulator.

Sorry I got to go, thanks for the humor

OMG I can't believe you really think Arma and something like Call of Duty/Titanfall are similar games. ?

Like I said, keep saying that and see people not take you seriously (there have been 2 posters already on this page).

I have no idea what Forza is cause I never played it.

Have you ever played Call of Duty for example?

To note, in about 15 mins in Arma 3 I could create a scenario of 6v6 with bots limited to the size of a football field if you like.

and no I havent played COD because it looks like what I was playing back in the 90s' I have moved on.

So let me get this straight:

1. You haven't played Call of Duty ever

2. You haven't played Titanfall obviously because it's not out

3. You don't play lots of FPS like you said

4. You play Arma3 and say "Yeah it runs like a cow" on the other topic (http://www.gamespot.com/forums/pc-mac-discussion-1000004/arma-iii-average-fps-31034250/#2)

5. You compare the ONLY game you have played against 2 others you have NEVER played (and one isn't out) and say it's better?

6. PLUS, state that the opinion of 2 other posters who have played BOTH games is "grade A bullshit."?

You're a piece of work, lol...

so you have played Arma 3 obviously.

Look I have been playing video games for 30+ years I am very well aware of arena style gaming and like I said all you have to do in Arma to have that affect is restrict how far people can go...simple.

I cant believe this entire argument is basically based on the size of the fucking map how retarded is that?

and yes it runs like a cow just like Crysis 1 did on new hardware when it came out. What does that say about Crysis?

Yes, I tried Arma 1, 2 and 3, and I've also played all the Call of Duties and BF3 and BF4, so maybe I can formulate a better opinion of comparison against someone who has just played Arma?

And wow, I have been playing games for 30 years too.... yet I'm not the one comparing an arena shooter against a military simulator am I?

And no, this argument isn't based on the map size. The games play completely differently apart from the map size. If you can't see that, then you really need to go back and play COD and compare.

It's just funny to watch you compare a game that is different to a game THAT HASN'T BEEN RELEASED YET AND NO ONE HAS PLAYED IT YET, crazy shit.

would you consider BF 1 an arena game? or do you see that radically different from COD like comparing it to the sims?

I haven't played BF1. Don't you read my posts?

And I'm not comparing COD to the Sims. I said that YOU comparing something like Titanfall to Arma is like comparing COD to the Sims.

BF 1 is a large map, many players, with airplanes and the like.

large scale arena style game play....kind of like Arma.

Basically what you are saying is that Arma is no where near similar to COD because of the size of the map.

That is your stance and its silly. even more so when in 5 minutes I could just put the objective flag into one city and put each side 100 yards from each other.

Your entire argument is because the map is to big...

OMG it's like talking to a brick wall...

Ok dude... keep comparing Titanfall to Arma if it makes you happy, don't say I didn't warn you.

Actually, don't take my advice (which you obviously haven't). Do this: create a whole new topic called "Titanfall vs Arma3", then post the reasons why you think Arma3 is better than Titanfall.... then sit back and read people's opinions to see if any match mine. I dare you.

PS: just make sure to send me the link for the new topic, I PROMISE I won't post in it.

Is Arma 3 different than COD? yes Is it radically different? no

The main difference you are illustrating is simply the size of the map which is something that can be controlled by moving the objective and starting points.

Different yes...radical no.

So you won't take my dare?

Afraid I'm right?

Hmmmm it looks fun for a weekend type thing, i'm so burned out on hype for these Cod clones. TitanFall? am i the only one that thinks titans are silly like power rangers, transformers, this game is aimed at the younger crowd that's for sure.
