i enjoy this game but im finding that i cant play it because im finding it to difficult. I play on MEDIUM and i start off by building 2 farms then a barracks and start pumping out units, by the time i have even got one set of units out im being ambushed by a **** load of enemys and the games over in a few seconds!!

This is on a skirmish by the way, i just dont know what im doing wrong : ( the computer rushes me like crazy even on normal difficulty.

Do you build the guard towers? I used to love those and would build tons of them, and then connect them with stone fences - that will hold them off while you build more units inside.

What you need to do is this(if you haven't done this already): after you choose your map you have the option to change the amount of resources you start the game with, set it to max which is 4000. After the game begins you should build one barracks (but build it close to the fortress cause that's the first thing they'll try to destroy) and a farm and stat training the cheapest units(swordsmen). All you have to do is defend your barracks and farms till you have more resources to make another barracks and more troops.

I play it always on brutal and it works for me.:) Or you could play with an ally to be easier.

what you should do is always play as the dwarves and start pumping out gaurdians ASAP. they KICK MAJOR @$$. and NEVER play as men of the west other than their heroes they suck. create mines and recruit gloin to defend your base. works for me in multiplayer. as soon as you build 3 mines, send one of your workers to make an archery range and start pumping out dwarven axethrowers. after pwning the first attak on you base make the other unit pumping building and make some phalanxes/gaurdians and attack their base. if you are only 5-10 minutes into the skirmish and have 3-4 groups of units and gloin, attak their base and you should win.

If you get in a real bind there are several walkthroughs for the missions. The skirmishes in particular can be pretty tough-I like to build up a really strong fortress with several catapults etc...Its a fun game though, one of these days I'm going to pick up the exp. Rise of the Witch King.

yeah if you can you should go for the exp. cuz it offers so much for only $10. you get the angmar faction which like totally needs heavy spending in resources but is so powerful on the battlefield. im still trying to beat the last mission of the angmar campaign on hard lol.

I usually build (on 4000 resources): Farm, Farm, Barracks, Farm, Barracks, Archery Range. In the meantime, just make as many batts of Gondor Swordsmen as you can (place them near your farms, the AI attack resourse buildings with a vengeance). You can even try building bait buildings (farms/heroic statues work wonders) to give your batts time to attack. I usually start building archers as fast as I can at this point, as they can attack other units from a distance.

Okay, first thing is first. YOu have to find out who you are playing. Goblins, Mordor, Isengard, MOTW, Elves, Or Dwarfs. Second of all, if you are playing, you should download the BFME Fan Patch, It fixes all the bugs, all the unbalanced crap the game comes with. It makes it soo much easier to play and defend. If I remember correctly, it is on the BFME2.Com.

Now, you should always start with the 2X Farm, then Farm + Barrack. Pump out Gondor Archer and Gondor Soldiers. Always creep the MAP!! ALWAYS!!!!!! You should also know the simply things like microing and macroing your army. It's simply to do so! The computer is very stupid and they only attack in waves and never harass you.You should ways try and get a hero like Boromir. His Horn and Leadership is a huge assest to early game. If you feel like you aren't pumping out enough soldiers get another barrack up and then start getting calavry. Try to upgrade but never sacrifice army for upgrades. Build a Well, always retreat your army and heal them.

If you feel like you getting attack way to much then start the Match up with a simply Farm + barrack, then go to a farm farm, but I don't recommend it uless you good at the game. It tends to slow the economy down way too much. All this will work only if you use the fan patch since it makes gondor aracher soo much better.

If you need help just ask, I was very good player.

Don't got time for details, I'll just lay out some basic stuff. First of all make sure the game is patched up to 1.6, because before Brutal was beating the crap out of me now I beat its crap out. But my dad still defeats me :P. But make sure to have a balanced growth of economy and military and don't over-do either. Also don't let your opponent grow big. Make wise use of special moves. Make a balanced army and upgrade them, don't make too much of 1 type of unit. Also try to keep your tactics straight, that is don't tackle opponent's units with the ones that have a disadvantage against them, you should tackle with the right ones. Like pikemen against horses. Another technique is blocking army with a wall of horses or pikemen and bombarding with arrows and siege stuff from behind, this works best with Men and Elves due to there powerful archers.
