It does, and looks better than Half Life 2, contrary to popular belief.

it still doesn't look "good". its running on an engine they made like 4 years ago. It looks ok for a 4 year old engine but there are far better looking games out right now. So if there are games out that look better wouldn't that mean that STALKER doesn't look "good"XBSHX
just cause there are better looking games, doesnt mean another game looks bad.
Stalker just doesnt look like its graphically better because of the style, but it is.

not many games look much better than this. FEAR sure doesnt, Oblivion does yeah. Yeah it helps that i play on a great pc, but any game wont look good if you dont play it on low. Look at low oblivion screens. You cant find many pc game screens that look better than what i posted.
it still doesn't look "good".XBSHX
your telling me those screens i posted dont look good?
Looks cool, but it all looks to concrete and texturised.Theguywithshirt
Still looks better than half of all the ps3 and 360 games. And thats the style of the graphics, it gives the game an abondended, creepy look

then what looks good for you?
Games with good graphics.then this should look good, unless your blind, or you have a really crappy pc
You people give way too much importance to the technical aspect of graphics. I for one appreciate great artistic direction much more, and it seems like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. delivers on that category.
A game doesn't have to be cutting-edge to look good.

I agree, STALKER isnt cutting edge, but it does look very darn good, and it has an art style that sets a mood very appropriate for the story of the game. But its just not right when people say that this game looks crappy, cause it doesnt look crappy, it looks very good
People should listen to this guy more often ;)You people give way too much importance to the technical aspect of graphics. I for one appreciate great artistic direction much more, and it seems like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. delivers on that category.

yep it does look better - i mean screw GS and their screenshots on low quality - as i said on S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s' website you can see much better screenshots on high qualityIt does, and looks better than Half Life 2, contrary to popular belief.

then what looks good for you?
Games with good graphics. such as F.E.A.R. or R6 Vegas? =)vegas, yes, but FEAR? fear just has nice gore, and the textures are a lot better in stalker. THe lighting puts FEAR to shame as well
ya....It still doesn't look that good and I have the game. Not only that the performance optimization on this game is absolutely disgusting. onemicget off this forum ^^
I think what many people are saying is; it looks good, but not as good as it should for this gen.F4ll3n_1PC games don't have "gens." Considering how many engine revisions they had to do, it looks good. Some of the lighting (lightning effects) and textures look quite nice. I like the dark and dreary atmosphere that you would expect out of an environment like this.
the character models are pretty shoddy, but the urban textures - especially bricks - are simply the best i've ever seen in a game, the lighting is good (especially on lightning - best weather effects i've seen in a game) and the shadows are astounding
and, considering that it's a large, open environment - not the confined corridor shooter, where more visual effort can be focused into a smaller area - the game is pretty amazing looking i'd say
but, as for the main pro argument i'm seeing here - that it looks better than half life 2 - yeah, so what? half life 2 is from 2004... it's an amazing looking game, but there's better out there
i'd call it a great looking game, but whatever - beauty is subjective, it's pointless arguing over it, even if technically possible
Check out some of the screenshots in this thread, I was really impressed when I saw them.

It looks good, just not as good as someone would expect for a game that's been in development for 6 years. To me the graphics are similar and on par with Thief Deadly Shadows, which is going on 3 years old. They are a notch behind HL2. But in no way do I think that stalker's graphics look bad.
I have been playing the game with various settings from max to medium. The main difference is the dynamic lighting which looks impressive, but the rest of the graphics are definately still a couple years behind.
Yes I agree, Stalker's graphics and style are excellent. Not perfect, some of the models are a bit dated, but overall it's very nice, especially the textures.
here are some more screens-
textures are nice but the polygon count looks low as HL1 lolTerrorantulaThe polygon count for characters is about the same as F.E.A.R.
Hey dude! I understand you what you mean! Of course it's looks pretty good. I am for you!It does, and looks better than Half Life 2, contrary to popular belief.
