To run GTA 4 does it really need a 5.1 Sound Card

As i was looking on Steam i was looking at GTA 4 and it says,

for requirements you need a 5.1 sound card is that true?

No game should require you to use 5.1 audio. You were probably reading off of the recommended specifications.

It's recommended but not needed. A 5.1 card and system is recommended for pretty much any recent or new game, the time of 2 speakers or just 2.1 is long gone :P.

No. If you're trying to play GTA IV your computer should be fairly recent and every motherboard nowadays comes with integrated 5.1 or 7.1 audio.
