To the Moon, has anybody played this indie story-driven RPG?

This indie RPG seems to have been lost under the big releases of this month, but it has universal acclaim from reviewers such as Ars Technica, Shacknews, RPS and a 5/5 from Gamepro. I'm downloading it now (only costs $12), but is it really all it's cracked up to be? Any impressions from someone who's played it?

Hadn't heard of it until I read your post. But, I will say..."WOW" . This game intrigued me right from the moment I watched the first trailer. I'm buying it now...but this will have to be a game I play when the kids go to bed. Can't have distractions going on with a story like this. Thanks for the heads-up. Sorry I can't give any impressions yet :-)

Looks awesome, thanks, love this type of games, apparently they submitted it to Steam, I'll wait till they get it on there, I don't mind using multiple DD platforms, but I really don't like making new accounts and having new download places for every single indie game that looks awesome, Steam and Desura.

I've been told to get your tissue boxes out while playing it. Not sure if I am in the mood for something like that at the moment, but will look to it eventually.

Sounds kinky. :P It does look good. It reminds of my SNES days.

The game is an amazing experience, played though it a week ago. It is very light gameplay wise, just some adventuring for findig stuff but the game is all about the story and the music. It is very touching, but I didn't find it that sad.

Thanks for the link! Been needing something to play when I am not at home. Skyrim has consumed my primary game time, but when I am at the gf's house this will definitely be something to check out.

Yes, play it and finish it. Won't take longer than 5 hours max. Be sure to take your time and put some thought into each part. And yeah, it's a tearjerker :D

I actually wrote up a review of this game, if you're interested. It's a very interesting experience, though it's more of an interactive story than it is a video game in the traditional sense

From Kevin VanOrds (GS editor) twitter: "If you prize great stories and want to support indie game developers, this is what you should be playing: http://t.co/znL7MOnE" "In short: play To The Moon. Now" I think we'll be seeing a review, a rather positive one. which is nice.

The gameplay videos make me want to vomit but I've always been a sucker for good stories and sound. What's it about? (without spoilers)

It's about travelling through the memories of a dying man and altering them to grant him his final wish of going to the Moon. Mostly you're travelling through different scenes from his life and seeing key events that made his life turn out how it did.

WOW, that's deep. Is the gameplay really gonna affect me?

I'm not an emotional person, but I still thought that the story is very touching.
