Cool stuff. Although I don't dig the name very much. Asus and XFX, I think Gigabyte as well are all releasing HD 5970s that are up to speed with the HD 5870's clocks. I don't see why Sapphire's version gets the special name "HD 5990" when it's no different really. I liked XFX's name the best "HD 5970 Black Edition", fits the already running naming scheme of AMD processors.

unlike the 5970's which are jsut oc'd 5850 cores the 5990 is two ACTUAL 5870 cores.

Er, what? The 5970 uses two underclocked 5870 cores; it's the 5990 that will be using the default 5870 core frequencies.

Yeah i posted this like 2 months ago because a different website had this info allready. needless to say it looks cool but it is not a 5990.
