Hello! Well, I been reading alot about these fimwares, and I think I would like to do so. I have a Linksys WRT54GS(kinda of old) anyway. I have been having a lot of trouble with my router, not being able to find match during matchmaking on any of my games. Called XBOX, they told me to get ahold of linksys and which I did. I didnt have my ports open, so I opened my ports and still nothing. I just would want to give this a try to see if maybe something could be done. Also, I usually push about 22.5 Down and about 2.5 Up, which is pretty good. But right now I am pushing 2.5 Down and .2 Up, which really sucks, lol. So, to get to my question, is is hard to install the tomato firmware? IF so, is there a place where I can get a step by step on how to do it, or is there a read me file in the download?

I have the same model router and I use the tomato firmware. it's the best and doesn't slow down your connection like the DD-WRT firmware. Did you try bypassing the router and do you have UPNP enabled? Tomato is easy to install but I think you have another problem.

If I eliminate the router, then everything is okay, however, if the router is back in the picture, then its back to square one. Yes, I have UNPN enabled. Like I said, the guy from Linksys helped me as much as he could.

I have bad news. Linksys changed the Operating System for the WRT54GS version 5 and up and reduced the amount of RAM and Flash Memory Your WRT54GS cannot run the Tomato firmware

No tomato for you. I don't know what the problem could be. Reset the router to default settings.

I always thought that DD-WRT was the best firmware to use? I'm currently using it on my Linksys N Router and it seems to be running fine, and it offers an abundance of useful additional features in the firm menu.
