Note: these are not in a particular best & worst all these are good and nr 9 can be better than nr 1 . And this is only a quick list as i've played about 70% of all games released since 97' .

well these games have changed the industry of gaming..i mean some of the graphic engines have been u sed to make some pretty kool games. so i will be rating games based on their influence to gaming industry.
Unreal Tournament---------many games have used its engine
Far cry-----------------------best graphics of its time giving oppurtunities for better future games
Half Life 2-------------------best physics for its time.
Doom 3---------------------have no idea..actually it was a game that put many gamers on their feet...hence gamers asking for more of these kind of games.
Starcraft--------------------Still considered the best rts ever made..influencing future rts games.
C&C rts series--------------an rts attracting ppl of all genre which inturn loved these games.
AoE series------------------an rts i still play just for the fact tht it still carries tht immense tension style of play. imo the best rts
CoH-------------------------a rts boasting beautiful graphics along with fantastic gameplay
Elder Scrolls series--------a rpg which always boasted extremely beautiful graphics with a new style of gameplay
Diablo series--------------a rpg which got many ppl involved in it. imo the best hack and slash game of its time
WOW----------------------mmorpg conisting of 9 million players. how this game has affected other mmorpgs just cannot be put into words.
Only deus Ex is in number one, the others I can't put in order.

Few things to note from other posters so far...
Because you use an emulator IT DOES NOT mean its a pc game. I'm not over anal, its just if you can't choosee a real PC game, don't post in the thread.
Also, you can't choose a game that HAS been released, don't choose games that are in beta OR not even in beta yet.. how can they be favorite? they are not released...
Surprised I haven't seen Full Throttle on here... Grim Fandango was great but Full Throttle was fantastic. The Longest Journey as well... Long Live good Adventure games.bdRunt
Full Throttle was quite awesome, along with the old Lucasarts games like Indiana Jones.

my dad got me started when i was like 6 playing duke nukem, wolfenstein, and quake. i would press the fire key and he would move around. so sweet. and here i am 12 years later...what have i done with my life?
1. Half-Life 2 (completely original storytelling and great environments. makes you become Gordon Freeman without a word, or even a cutscene. so good)
2. company of heroes (strategy on a whole other plain)
3. age of empires 2 (a defining moment in RTS history. so well blanced)
3. half life (so many different enemies, environments, and weapons. and its so old!)
4. battlefield 1942 (original and very well balanced)
5. Red Alert 2 (two campeigns from both sides of the lines. and great storyline)
6. sim city 2000 (graphics may have gotten better in later ones, but you cant beat the balancing and simplicity of genious here)
7. shogun: total war (the later ones are effing epic, but sometimes to complicated. shogun defined the series with new ideas)
8. starcraft (opposing factions in an rts that play completely diffreent from each other??? so good)
9. half life 2: episode one (all the action and originality AND immersive gameplay of half life 2...only shorter, so no slow parts)
10. Roller Coaster Tycoon (haha, i know right? the second one sucked, but the first one was awsome)
1: half-life 2 ] Simply the most perfect game in the world
2: Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion ] I've played this game over 300 hours, this game gives me goose-bumps!
3: Resident Evil 4 ] Great story, very optional game
4: Legend of Zelda The Windwaker ] An entire world at your fingers
5: Warcraft 3 ] Great Story, well designed editor
6: F.E.A.R ] Intense combat, a fantastic FPS
7: World of Warcraft ] Great multiplayer game
8:Counter Strike Source ] Great multiplayer game
9: Super Smash Brothers ] Intense multiplayer
10: Mario Cart Double Dash ] Super fun racing game
