Sold. That's freakin' awesome.

It looked good at first, but after they began showing actual game footage it started to get extremely lame and after this....Web of Shadows looks like an awesome game >_>, it is the best Spider Man so far, but not that great of a game, the only thing that Prototype has that WoF doesn't is the part with the vehicles and the ability to copy people.1 word........Lame

It looks like it could turn out to be an awesome game. I wonder if it has similiar system specs to GTA IV.
Do you believe that? we'll see how happy you'll be once you get the game. It looks like the game has no substance at all, and for these types of games it's most likely it will be like that, and the only thing that you can do in this "sandbox" game is to beat countless people and monsters on the street, sure it might be fun, but what will you do after 3 or 4 hours? beat monsters and people or run them over? It's as lame as it gets, killing people with special powers or vehicles isn't fun, it's interesting at first and then it gets extremely awkward. Why lame?
Because it makes your kid fantasies come alive?:)
Oh well, I guess some people only enjoy sandbox games when you don't have many toys to play with...

Get Spider Man Web of Shadows and see for yourself, and don't give me the "it's a crap game" excuse, because it's almost the same as Prototype, you can do everything you can in prototype, except drive vehicles and people don't die like they do in Prototype, it's not as entertaining when you kill them. When it comes to special attacks, it stands no chance against Spider Man. Anyway that's my opinion,
I don't know why you see it as a great game, since it looks bad in any possible way, even artistically, but we'll see.
I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you, I'd be surprised if it were interesting, "freakin" awesome" will be far from it ;).

Well, that's why the powers unlock over time and they constantly throw new enemies and challenges at you >_>
I'd say the substance is in the bazillion ways you can play it. Basically, what you are saying is that Devil May Cry, God of War, Collapse and others are also lame because you constantly kick ass in entertaining ways.
The concept is similar to Saints Row or Crackdown - dick around for a while, doing whatever the hell you want, and when you're tired complete some main missions. This is the opposite of GTA.
Some of the ideas seem rather cool. I like how you can impersonate someone then cause your enemies to turn on each other. The ability to morph seems cool as well. Everything else you could probably find in a GTA game.
But I honestly can't stand sandbox games with no real story driving some progression through the game. Going around killing random people doesn't appeal to me that much. I'd probably have fun for like 15minutes (testing out the various ways to kill someone) then be like "wtf am I supposed to do now" /uninstall.
All I read is it will be entirely free roaming and you're looking for "Someone who knows who did this to you" with several stages as the city approaches a hellish state. No story driving it was probably the wrong idea. I assume it'll be like GTA where it's sort of in the background.Wait, how do you people know there's no story progression?:|

Just going by the video alone, I can see that the environments are completely bland and repetitive, the enemies are also bland and repetitive, the gameplay looks as if it's nothing more than doing the same types of combos over and over and over, and the visuals look absolutely horrible.
This game has "consolitis" written all over it.
Looks like it has some interesting ideas and the carnage is definitely good-looking but the problem with sandbox games is that they can often lose their direction and their pace is hurt as a result. I'll just wait and see what other players and reviewers say about this game before I buy it. So far it looks pretty cool, though.

I think this far far better than GTA IV. GTA 4 is the lamest.[QUOTE="Tresca_"][QUOTE="MrUnSavory1"]

I think this far far better than GTA IV. GTA 4 is the lamest. If GTA IV didn't run like a one-legged dog, it would be one of the best games on the PC platform IMO. It's a shame they royally screwed it over.
I'm skeptical. I read the synopsis on the website and it reads like a 14 year old wrote it.cametall*shudder* I agree, that was poorly written.

I think this far far better than GTA IV. GTA 4 is the lamest.Let me guess. You've made that statement based on the fact that it is a bad port, and I would agree that it wasn't all that well done.
I've got over 70 hours out of GTA IV, so I hope you get that much out of Prototype, throwing people into helicopters.
Say what? GTA 4 has no variety? a GTA game has no variety and SR 2 is better? Ok, that shows much about the games you like. I think you missed the part where Prototype will be a town filled with people and monsters to kill with some missions. NFS 1 is more varied than Prototype. I think you got the wrong idea when you saw videos or info for Prototype, do you actually think this is similar to GTA, Saint's Row, Mafia, or games like that?GTA4's a bad sandbox game. There's too little variety.
So, I hope you had fun doing the same 5 things over and over again for 70 hours.
Saints Row 2 is much better. Say what you want about the story or characters, but the gameplay is miles above GTA4.

Only being a varied sandbox. As you can see in that trailer, you have options for stealth, gun-blazing, monster madness, vehicle madness, and there are over 750 skill combinations.
Saying that it's just a town with monsters and people to kill is stupid. The OPTIONS you have are what truly matters.
And yes, SR2 is better. What can I do in GTA4 for fun? Shoot people, hijack cars, create some chaos - yeah, that's cool. Ever since GTA1 I was doing this. What about the rest? What's more fun, watching TV in GTA4 or actually playing on my TV in SR2? Going to those dumbass clubs in GTA4 or playing one of the dozens of secondary mission types in SR2? Hell, even hijacking a car that has a passenger inside starts a side mission.
People hate SR2 because it's arcade and gleefuly imature, compared to the doom and gloom of GTA4, and because the main menu has hip-hop music and imagery.
As Eurogamer put it,
does this look a) ridiculous and unrealistic or b) really good fun?
If you're still running with 'ridiculous and unrealistic', Saints Row 2 may not be the game for you.
Say what you want about the story or characters, but the gameplay is miles above GTA4.
Baranga
So you're admitting that the story and characters in GTA IV are likely to be better than that of Prototype?
As for gameplay, that's a personal preference. To me it looks like it will wear thin like Assassin's Creed.
You also said that GTA IV lacks variety? Read that again.

Of course. I like most characters of GTA4. If only Roman would shut up about boobs:x
I take it you haven't played GTA 4, well....no use arguing with you. Saying that all you can do is "hijack cars, create some chaos" is not stupid, it's worse than that.

Well then give me examples of what you can do for fun. I played it for about 15 hours. Does variety suddenly pop out after 16?
Seriously, it's general knowledge that SR2 is more varied than GTA4. The amount of customisation and random **** you can do is unrivaled. GTA4 has the least amount of variety of any of the 3D GTAs. Rockstar's quest for realism removed a lot of things from the previous games. Basically, there's no urge to use the sandbox. What the hell am I going to do once I finish the story? Go to a Internet cafe? I'd rather browse the web without burning my 9800gt. I got hundreds of hours out of San Andreas, but here... I won't. Because I can't.
Also, both GTA and SR2 have the same amount of little details - you know, things like Niko scratching his balls (which happens way too often:lol: ) or SR2s main character singing along the radio.
If Rockstar would've continued the Vice City lolocaust trend, SR2 would be the result.
