Top 3 games that had the best story on the PC

Well, I've been going through my collection of pc games, playing some old ones again to experiance some of that magic when I decided to make this post. What 3 games do you think had the best story that you've played through your pc gaming lives.

I nominate:

Homeworld (the original)

Star Wars: Knight of The old Republic.

Starcraft (Brood War included)

These are in no particular order for me and it was hard to chooses between some of the great pc games that there are, but I think thses games just had that special touch for me in the story and experiance as a whole itself.

I think my top 3 would be as follows:

1. Planescape Torment

2. Deus Ex

3. The Half-Life series

All are good choices, but Deus Ex once I finished the game I did not want to play again. So was the story that good? I am playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl and it has good story and is re-playable.toad1956

I agree, STALKER is very replayable and has a great story line, however I also had a lot of replaying Deus Ex multiple times.

I enjoyed Mafia a lot. Stalker is great (currently playing through for the second time). I can't really think of many games with great stories right now.

Morrowind was pretty good and i really enjoyed the Age of Mythology single player campaign.

looks like i gotta be the guy to bring the FF series into the mix

1. FF VII (need i say more..? a remake would be cool)
2. FFX (tidus was a pretty girl)
3. starcraft (dunno why but i liked it too and all i can think of)d0pestar

FFX game out on PC? I didnt mention FFVII because it was originally for PsX, and was remade and all. Originals ftw.

I like all of these and as you can see I like the RTS games alot. On Xbox 1 I like FPS and racing games.

1) Half life series (complex and deep and awesome)

2) Diablo 1 & 2 (not complex, just cool and a good excuse to hack up some demons!)

3) Red Alert 2 ! Just cos i loved the game.

Legacy of Kain series > the most compeling a true characters & voice acting in history ... a true beliveble story of the vampire race

Half-Life series ... i think everyone knows its superb

Prince of Persia series .... well the twists with time stoping action & superb & poeticly voice acting was just overwellming

So far there have been some pretty good nominations from games old and new. Remember though, keep it to game that originated on the pc and you nominate for thecool or compelling story.

Vice City is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than San Andreas

Anyway, my TOP 3:

3. Indigo Prophecy

I would have to say,

- Tie Fighter (DOS game with a great twist on the Star Wars plot)

- Full Throttle, Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle (probably some of the best DOS adventures ever made)

- Half Life

SA is far better than Vice City in everyway and most people just don't like it because you play a black guy. The only better thing about VC is the 80's music but the rest of the game is crap like the city and the storyline + it wasn't funny at all.
