doom2/3, quake1,2,3,or 4, all the above listed KoToR, diablo 2 (i also recommend diablo 1 but its hard to find outside the battlechest), painkiller, C&C red alert 2, age of empires 2, counter stike (either origional or source). if your PC can handle it crysis is good, im gonna get it behind us and say WoW, and finally the sims is also a classic game.
Deus Ex, Max Payne, Half-life, Doom, Far Cry. No particular order.
These are all great games that realllly innovated PC gaming, and anyone who's played PC games at all in the past 10 years should have played at least 3 of these. Although I'm not sure how many people will agree with Max Payne being on the list, I've always considered it one of the best PC games ever.
Personally, I think System Shock 2 is an acquired taste. It's game design at its most brilliant, no question about it, but as a game that everyone should play? It'd be hard for me to recommend it universally.

By the way, to the OP, I played Psychonauts because it was free on Gametap. Really didn't expect to like it because it didn't seem like my type of game. However, I really enjoyed it.
I am onto RPG, RTS games only. Here are my top 5 games: 1. Baldur's Gate franchise (both 1, 2 and exp) 2. Neverwinter Nights (+exp) 3. Dawn of War franchise 4. company of heroes (those who like WWII) or CnC (those who doesn't like WWII) 5. Warcraft 3 :)
