Wouldn't bother with old games because they ain't scary anymore. I tried playing System Shock 2 and Aliens vs Predator 2 again and they just suck now, just annoying to play with how dated their controls and game mechanics are.
So yeah Dead Space was the only game that kept me tense all the way through to the point I could only play it in short bursts because I felt drained lol. Just constant jumping and moments that made me wanna cry like when you're being chased by that monster that doesn't die.
1) penumbra series - particularly the first 2 and especially black plaque where you have no weapons adding to the fear factor) 2)stalker shadow of Chernobyl the under ground labs sections are particularly scary as is being caught n the dead of night and having a horde of mutant attack you(oblivion lost worlds mods enhances the fear factor by making the horde size much bigger as well as respawning them after a period of time. think a dozen mutant dogs and or boars) and well thats all thats really scared me.
