Toshiba L650 laptop - How do i make recovery discs?

I want to make discs, for backup reasons but also to free up my hardrive. I can see the files in my D drive, but i cant find a utility to do it.

what os are you using? if windows vista or windows 7 it comes with a backup disk featuremacrome
