Total War going MOBA

With Total War heading into the MOBA genre and a huge new release in the series coming in the form of Rome II, it makes sense that Sega would run a promotion like this. Total War: Arena is in development and still looking for closed beta testers, but Rome II owners will get special privileges.

Privileged access to Total War: Arena will include first access to closed beta, in-game Legion Armoury bonus, and about $15 of the in-game currency that should get you started. There's no solid word on when the beta for Total War: Arena will begin or when you'd get those perks, but if you're buying Rome II anyway, it's a nice bonus.

You'll have to head over here for all the info you'll need about the special promotion. Total War: Rome II is out on September 3rd.

Having played many hours of Shogun 2 i'm looking forward to this. But Shogun 2 did have massive issues still unresolved.

The developers have outright said this mobo will not simply be a DOTA clone. I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Hopefully it doesnt become pay2win, that would just dampen everything and make it piddly poo as a competitive game.

Having you ever played Shogun 2 multiplayer? Unless you own ROTS, FOTS or the many DLC packs, you are at a grave disadvantage. It's too bad as well since the actual core game is really good.

Pretty much every Total War title since Empire denys you of powerful units unless you buy them. This isn't a problem for me personally, being a huge Total War fan, I basically do buy them all. However, new players coming into Shogun 2 with the base vanilla game, an unleveled general and only the base units, will be raped and probably never touch the game again.

It's silly at this point to not trust the developers to have learned their lessons about P2W. I don't get how thats a worry anymore.RevanBITW

Oh, developers still fall into the P2W trap. Like a might quest for epic loot recently.

And I don't blame people for being sceptical, there were many pay 2 win games out there and there are still many, though they have mostly moved over to iOS and smartphone devices.

A Total War MOBA makes sense to me. Could be a fun little game to play. I remember hearing about it awhile back.

I'm interested to see how these games like Total War Arena, End of Nations and Sins of a Dark Age will combine MOBA and RTS.

Honestly, the MOBA market is oversaturated. Most of these are going to fail, only 2 or 3 big ones remaining.

The developer has already stated it will be radicially diffrent from other MOBO's. I generally don't see any reason to doubt them thus far. Total War has generally been fairly uniqe.

I never liked MOBA games, or should I say I never liked DotA. I played my share of it but it never got to me. That said, playing as Julius Caesar may make me give it a try.
