I have 700 hours gamtime. For that price, you are basically a criminal. Alot of content here. 2 expansion packs, all the dlc units e.t.c...

Game itself is probably the best realized feudal Japan game made.

I just recently bought it myself. I entered the series at Rome: Total War, stopped at Medieval 2 total war and just picked this up last week. Wow is there a difference between this game and the others, much more to it, and it's a lot more difficult with better AI. Just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve.

It's not an easy game, but it's an easy game to recommend.

1. Total war has always been accesible. It uses audio advisors and a built in wiki. The main complex stuff is on the turn based map. The real time battles are basically rock/paper/scissor.

2. Both are worth it but Shogun 2 is better. FOTS is more like "last of the samurai" with guns VS sword. Shogun 2 takes place much further back with some very minor guns making an appearence. Rise Of The Samurai is like cave men compared to these two games, it goes all the way back to the start.

3. Depends on the difficulty and how you play. You can skip real time battles. Have the turn base stuff managed. But you sort of miss the point of the game.

Also if you want a quick fix, the historical battles are really fun. They are more story-driven and linear but you can easily get 7 hours out of them.

Total War is the best strategy game series. My suggestion, you must play Total War games, especially you must wait Rome 2. You can start Shogun: Total War, and after Medieval: Total War, Rome: Total War, Medieval II: Total War, Shogun 2: Total War. :)

And last, don't miss this discount.

i say buy it but DO NOT RUSH IT. if this is truly your first strategy game you may feel crushed with all the info being thrown at you.

Just play on easy and listen to the advice given ingame

I highly recommend it. Definitely one of the best if not the best strategy games out there. It's an epic scale strategy game.

Yeah, Total War is a good series to use as an entry to the strategy genre.

There is no 'story' mode or a campaign in the sense I think you believe. It's not a game you pick up, beat the story and move on. So if you are not prepared to spend a lot of time on it, this probably isn't the game for you.

I bought the game , but what about dlc . The rise of samurai and The fall of samurai , It's worth play these dlc , and I only will play in story mode ?Alessandro1001

The DLC are extremely different from the base game. Fall of the samurai takes places during the 1870's and has a much heavier focus on guns and cannons. Rise of the samurai has greater focus on a structured unit tier.

Part of me says "pick it up while its cheap" another part of me says "play the game more to judge whether you should throw more money at it"

I've about 300 hours in Shogun combined between the base game and the 2 DLC expansions.
