Anyone know why there are no PC games that use Tray-and-Play technology, other than Halo 2? It's been over two years since then, so I'd imagine game developers have had plenty of time to try it out and decide whether or not to use it. For those who don't know, Tray and Play is basically a technology developed for "Games for Windows" titles, which allows you to insert a PC DVD and start playing instantly, as the game installs in the background. Sounds groundbreaking...but the ground remains untouched. Why? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Games_for_Windows#Tray_and_Play

Because running files from the hard-drive is usually much faster and better than running the files from the dvd wearing down the drives laser . A problem most common on the Xbox 360 ...

Neat idea, but no one wants to wait for it to install the next level if they do so.

1st off, Halo? WTF... and are you that f*in impatient you can't wait for your game to install? It should never be in the software to start playing RIGHT AWAY, just buy a faster computer with a proper SCSI RAID controller if you want top speed installs.

2nd, Games for WINDOWS? Oh christ, yeah lets wait XXX hours for Vista to install, then roll a critical hit on a 1d20 to see if the OS installed properly without causing endless crashes, THEN we can just play games "RIGHT AWAY" while installing in the background ... ?? Jesus f*in Christ, I'll stick to XP PRO and just play Tetris for 5 minutes while my game installs properly, thanks. =|

I installed Vista several months ago and haven't had a single crash or error. The biggest problem I get is when I want to play a game and have to install OTHER programs just to play it, like Rockstar Games Social Club, Games for Windows Live, Punkbuster etc etc and then the game won;t work because those other programs have some inherent problem (like existing).

Congratulations, you landed a deathly blow on [Hard Drive] with your mighty [Vista] sword of doom, causing (1d6 +14) *2 Damage to [Hard Drive] All DnD jokes aside, you're right about the "additional bullsh**" you need to install these days to play the mighty Games for Windows

I hate GFWL. It mucks up anything that touches it, including GTA4, Steam, Fallout 3 and more to come.

No one needs the piece of **** software anyway. The only game worth using it for is Fallout 3 for the DLC, which is what the Add-On Packs and Game of the Year Edition are for. Every other Games of Windows Live game is ****.
