From the look of the recent tribes videos it seems great although I don't like it being free to play and paying for loadouts(I hear loadouts will be unlocked the longer you level up and play the game). I would of prefered it to be a low priced retail title but since I would of bought it anyway I'll just through a couple of bucks at a loadout. It also appears they took out the grappling gun everyone hated in Tribes Vengeance. Anyway I'm a bit annoyed at how Hirez said they won't be giving out mod tools till they longer want to "support" the game themselves. Mod tools in tribes were mainly used to make custom maps and etc.

Havn't actually watched any gameplay, I did a quick search and I'm watching a 20 min quakecon video. I'm also waiting for Totalbiscuit to upload his gamescom video. It looks pretty epic and true to Tribes. Do we know what the F2P entitles? Like in TF2 or Quake live there is no downside to not paying. So will this be P2win or P2get a class? Or will it be F2P will optional microtransactions? Also no mod support doesn't mean no map making tools.

judging by the gameplay videos its worth a dL. I too would have prefered a retail release, but I am guessing this f2p model is a lot more successful than the traditional model amongst for certain devs.

Sure. It's free so why wouldn't you at least try it?

Anyway hopefully enough people play it to get other developers attentions and start trying to make classic PC centric shooters instead of trying to cater to the CoD and modern warfare audience.
