Triss Merigold or Shani? *Probably Contains Spoilers (The Witcher)*

I'm on the quest called "The Source" and this seems like the moment where you decide which romance path you want to take. I checked out both and have saved games when I chose Shani and when I chose Triss at the end of the quest. I really cant decide, it seemed easier in Mass Effect and other Bioware games but CDProjekt made this so difficult. Just for the fact that I'm completely canceling out the other character.

Shani is very nice and I'd probably like her more as a person but it feels right to be with Triss. I know it sounds like I'm making too big of a deal out of this but I'd rather the game play out in a way I'd like.

Any advice? Which is a more interesting path? It seems like Triss, but I like both of them a lot.

I dont know, it doesnt feel right to be with a nurse/medic who has already pretty much settled down and isnt really a big part of catching the Salamandra. It seems like Triss is a big part of the storyline and not going with her might feel like I'm messing up the storyline. Does this choice dramatically change things later on in the game? It just seems like, since Triss was with me before I lost my memory, that I should go with her, and since interaction with her seems more vital to the storyline.

I just hate how it makes you alieniate the other person. At least in other games you could still be friends with the other person.

I've only played it through with Shani, at some point i'll pick Triss.

Shani seems pretty convinced that Triss is just manipulating you. It seems like everyone else here doesnt trust Triss, but let me just ask the two of you who chose Shani...Was it interesting, did it feel right, and did it ever eventually feel awkward with Triss?

I dont know about the rest of the people here, but I dont see many reasons to no trust Triss, she got information from another sorcress and she probably just cant tell you because it wouldnt look good and she probably has a good reason. Still, I really like Shani. Triss is also unlocking Alvins potential, but Shani can offer the kind of care he needs.

btw these choices make witcher cool, not just the romance ones, but the non human ones etc. None of the decisions are right, just different.

I choose triss and regretted that decision because I liked shani more. Without spoiling the game too much, at the end of the game this decision does change how the action plays out. Other decisions also effect the end, and which quests you get in chapter 5

Here: Give me a strong recommendation based on what I would prefer:

I want a strong romance side story while not starting a family while I'm still doing Witcher work, and not feeling liable to start a family. I know its not that open-ending, but at the same time it might start to get awkward being a freelance monster slayer with a small family at home, or a wife wanting to start a family.

Triss is kind of pompous and seems like she's hiding something. Shani is very sweet and caring and she would be the best for Alvin. On the other hand, Shani is somewhat uninteresting compared to Triss.

I love sorcery in this game. From signs to full magic, its something I like in Triss.

Triss and Geralt seem like a perfect couple, Geralt is a Witcher, he lives to fight monsters and defend humans. Triss is a sorcress, she is also capable in combat and seems like a perfect match for Geralt, she helps Witchers, and she somewhat seeks to defend humans. I like the feeling of being a perfect couple.

Shani is very pretty and very likeable. Its easy to like her a lot, and it would feel good to know that a women like that loves you. I like that feeling.

To sum it up, I want to feel like I can have a relationship while still being a freelance monster slayer, and I want to feel like my partner is ok with that and I can still feel like an adventurer. I also prefer a more interesting person. I enjoy sorcery. And I like to feel good about the person I chose.

I know it sounds like I'm leaning towards Triss, and I pretty much am, but would it be safer to just choose Triss and pick Shani on a second playthrough?

A very deep game

Hey Darth_Kane, I just played that Star Wars Personality Test and got Qui-Gon-Gin. Gonna post the imagine in my signature soon.

Anyway, I checked out caring for Alvin on both sides, and I didnt like the way Triss treats him, so I didnt get far with that. I decided to care for Alvin a bit longer with my Shani saved game, and I like how she isnt treating him poorly and not forcing him into sorcery. Its also cool how he wants to be a Witcher when he grows up. I gave Shani a Silver Amber Ring and went through the second sex scene with her. I also like Shani a lot, so should I just play it safe and go with her? And will I not like the quests/endings with her? Or will I like them? I'd rather not go with Triss and regret it because I like Shani more. Maybe I should just go with Shani then? Think I'll be happy with the choice later in the game, or will it not be as interesting as being with Triss?

I prefer Triss over Shani, because if you choose Triss, as a consequence Shani totally cutoff from you she even do not talk with you in a proper way. If you go to her house she say you are not welcomed here but if you choose Shani, as a consequence Triss gets upset and start to cross you in her talks for rest of the game but its still better then not talking at all besides Triss still offer you her help in the rest of the game thus proving how good she is.

Another reason for choosing Triss is that Geralt is more attached to her, remember what he has said in the prologue movie "Triss I feel a strong bond between us" or something like that I dont remember the exact dialogs. Also note how Triss said "Dont get killed Geralt" when she was parting from Geralt after Leo's funeral. It all makes sense, she too love Geralt very much. ;)

Shani is a blah blah BOSSY Tone "What were you doing with that witch ?" (Chapter 3: When you enter Temple Quater)

Also in the end if you choose Shani, Geralt's Identity quest's last Phase becomes "I think I love Shani" but if you choose Triss Geralt's Identity quest's last Phase becomes "I now realize that Triss is the love of my life".

Just look at the difference of these two sentences, Its a high probabilty that Geralt already loved Triss before losing his memory.

Actually before Geralt lost his memory the love of his life was Yennefer and she was a mother figure for Ciri (Geralt's stepdaughter)

Triss was a friend of Yennefer and Geralt, unhappily in love with him. She took care of Ciri for some time and is like an older sister to her

I haven't read the books, but I have seen the TV series and I read some of this at the Witcher Wiki

Seems more like Shani is more truly in love with you while Triss isnt as excited about it. Presenting the ring to her she just says: "Clearly its a beautiful ring, but..." While when presenting the ring to Shani she says: "Geralt...Its beautiful..." And you say to Shani: "Not as beautiful as you" It seems wierd because at Kaer Morhen its very romantic with Triss and all, but it feels empty here. Triss was previously in love with Geralt and apparantly Triss is Geralt's love of his life, so thats why this feels wierd.

It seems like they sort of advertise Triss as your lover in the box cover and screenshots and such. But its not as deep with her as I expected it to be. Should I just go with Shani then? I really want to get the game moving forward.

Which is more enjoyable? Triss is the complex and interesting sorcerer but Alvin is hardly a factor, But Shani is the simple but loving person and Alvin is a bigger part.

Whenever I see the whole "Triss is the love of my life" thing it feels empty compared to when Shani says it to you.

One sentence then: Tell me who you chose and who I should choose. Just say:

"I chose (Triss or Shani)."

And then:

"You should choose (Triss or Shani)."

Explain why if you please but its not really needed.

i am on act 3 of the witcher and just chose shani before i svaed and stopped it because im getting a new computer soon. Is shani and alvin in acts 4 and 5 also?like questgvers and stuff?

I actually choose both, i saved b4 u have to decide and tried both sides and this was my reations:

Triss is a total *****, i got home drunk and she started screaming at me wth.

Shani was nowhere near as bad she was like oh u reek of alcohol go to sleep b4 alvin wakes up.

That answer from shani was enough for me, triss can kiss my ass for being so pissy.

I choose Triss because Alvin has all those strange and powerful powers and I have a feeling Triss would would be better at coping with that. Of course Triss is hiding something but that just makes her a woman.... Also Triss had her own house while Shani was living with an old hag... Just my thoughtspotentv

On a scale of annoyance, Shani's grandma is second only the The Pope in MTW2.

Shani is sweeter, kinder and has better personality overall , but Triss has bigger boobs and wears fishnets. So the obvious answer is Triss.

I too found it amusing how much this thread's author debated over whom to pick. I merely seek info on this choice, because I won't have time to play the game thru a 2nd time, which is what would be due, given all the determining choices.

Hmm, going with Triss, I think, as I was already leaning towards. Posters here diss her attitude, but I don't find that it matters if the story is more interesting with her.

I think I chose Shani when I played through it (never got around to playing through it a second time, i will one day). Don't actually remember what changes that makes to the story though.

I chose Shani. Didn't care much for Triss's manipulations and her side of things.
