Hi, I am trying to pick out a new monitor. The only games I play on PC are SC2 and I may also play Diablo 3. Also, I will be watching an occasional blu ray movie. Other than that I will be doing work on my PC- mainly word, excel, and statistical software. I have heard that IPS is the way to go despite not typically having as fast of a refresh rate or response time. Anyway, here are some IPS monitors I am considering. If you know of some that are better feel free to make a suggestion. I am looking in the $170-$270 range. Preferably it would have a decent stand, be 1920x1080, and be 23"-24". I think right now I am leaning most heavily towards the Dell below.

Dell 2312HM

Viesonic VX2336S

Viewsonic UP2365WB

NEC EA232WMI-BK

LG IPS231P-BN

LG IPS236V

I'd go with the Dell U2312HM.

It goes on sale for $239 on the Dell website all the time.

You get the enhanced picture quality of IPS coupled with the lowest measured input lag of any TFT panel available (according to TFTcentral). It also has amazing build quality, OSD, and stand with tilt/swivel/etc.

It's the best value out there for your money. If you're concerned with 120hz than this won't suit you but many (most?) people really can't tell the difference. Plus, if you're interested in watching movies than the IPS will definitely be a better option.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am really hoping to try out a monitor with an IPS panel.

Bruin- Good to hear, unless I am convinced otherwise I will go with the Dell.

Avoid the LG IPS236V. I've seen some of those. Bad viewing angles and AWFUL backlight bleed.
