The samsung is a brand people speak highly of, however is 30 dollars more, and only 40 inch. Whereas the spectre ( a brand ive never heard of) is 409 dollars and a 42 inch screen... it has good reviews. Which do you think I should order? My budget is about 400 to 440 and thats it.

! Paid $500+tax+cali recycle bs =$580 last year for the same/similar tv. A 5 series with only 1 hdmi for mines as I recall.

I had the same dilemma with no name dynex from bestbuy for $430 and I had that for a day. Returned it a day later and I got a rude comment from this muscular chick at the return checkout "if you could afford it than why dont you just get this tv instead" something like that that friend caught. I let that slip since she was cute. Enough with my tale. A tv is going last 5 years or so, so Ill stick to name brand even if you lose two inches.

Better warranty honor and most likely longer life with number brands.

Why do you want to do this? Text is hard to read, too big to play good at games ,etc.

Samsung is mass production... so-so quality, good price. Panasonic is high quality and very affordable pricing. I use nothing but Panasonic HDTVs, period. This coming from someone that has owned a few Samsung HDTVs. Series 7 Touch of Color 46" on day one, I bought it. A 32" inch LCD HDTV before that. I've used Sony Bravia's, and nothing comes close to the quality of Panasonic, hands down.

Im sure racing games, skyrim, and such looks like s*x with a decent size tv paired with a computer.

@ op you can aim for plasma pannies as elann suggested, but thatll cost more. Aim for the black friday sales though!

You guys say ghosting and stuff. Well i currently play on a 26 inch panasonic lcd 720p, and i sit about 5 feet from it. The text is a bit small, but i can type and read this with no strain. Although it wouldnt hurt to be bigger. I made it my goal to get in between a 40 and 46 inch. I dont really have 3000 dollars to drop on a 3d tv although it would be nice. But i currently play skyrim and bf3 on my current crappy tv and i cant see any problems whatsoever...
