Hey guys, I just finished class yesterday and am eager to play some good old fashioned fantasy turn based rpg (for the pc, that is). The thing is, I'm not sure what game to get, since many of them border mediocrity. So, any suggestions? I would prefer a more recent game (2006-2011-ish)

Thanks a lot!

That is true indeed, hence my dilema. I was taking a glimpse at guild wars, is that turn based or action rpg? any suggestions about that one?

Guild Wars isn't turn based, I like to think of it like Diablo II type gameplay.

Another vote for King's Bounty. I've only played King's Bounty: The Legend, which is the first one, and I thought it was a great TBS.

I recommend:

Eschalon: Book I

Eschalon Book II

Avadon: The Black Fortress

King's Bounty: The Legend

Knights of the Chalice

And if you are into roguelike RPGs, I suggest keeping an eye out for Dungeons of Dredmor which will be released on July 15th.

Free to play MMORPG Atlantica Online is pure turn based. Control up to 9 units. I liked it for the nostalgia factor reminding me of old PS1 days.

Look out for Age of Decadence and Dead State.
