Well, you can pick up Worms Reloaded off of Steam for 20 bucks. Not sure if Worms is your cup of tea, but it's a TBS. You may want to look into King's Bounty too. That'll keep you busy all the way up to the release of those two games. I believe the price for KB and KB: Armored Princess is rather reasonable. For old school solutions, can pick up Jagged Alliance 2, X-COM, or Disciples 2 off Steam. Would help if you listed off ones you've played already too so we're not naming off games you already played.

Went for kings Bounty in the end $9.99 on GOG.

I've put Jagged Alliance 2 and Disciples II on my wish list so I don't forget them.

Thanks for your help guys,

Download the 1.13 mod for Jagged Alliance 2, it is extremely awesome and adds some really nifty features to the game.

Battle for Wesnoth is completely free, very well supported and has great multiplayer. The only downside is that the graphics aren't great, but it's TBS so you were probably expecting that anyway. ;)

Don't know. There's been nothing great lately. King's Bounty's gameplay is weird and a bit annoying. Elemental: war of magic is a very poor game. HOMM games have repeated themselves a million times already. I'd recommend civilization 4, although even that is very old by now.
