So, I've decided I'm going to order a HPX headset, however I have a question. I would really like to get an amplifier for it, however it seems as though the only gaming amp being discussed anywhere is the Astro Mixamp. I was happy to purchase it until I read that the Astro Mixamp would technically HINDER the headset as opposed to helping it. The article stated that the mixamp was designed to create "artificial surround sound" in a stereo headset. Since the HPX are already designed for 5.1, are there any other amplifiers on the market that I could pick up?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel.

The HPX is out of production so unless your getting it used on ebay your gonna have to get the HPA2 same model more or less. The Mixamp will not hinder the headset it will help. Who ever said that has no clue what they are talking about. The HPX was still simulated surround 3.1 i belive, true surround is 5.1,. HPA2 is the same thing. One thing you need to get when purchacing the headset, and mixamp is the cable for the headset to work with the mixamp. Its on turtlebeaches web site and its called the HPX-2 that will allow you to use the headset and mic. Anyways this is a great setup and the one i use at home.

Excellent choice of headset! If you want to use the headset with Xbox 360, then yes, you will need the Astro Mixamp. The HPX has not been discontinued, just get the HPX-1 for Astro Mixamp here:
