I am getting a headset for Christmas and was wondering which one I should get. The new Astro a 40 (will be released on november 22) are wireless and have a 7.1 sorround sound but, they are around 80$ more than the x41s....

I have done some research and it seems the a40s have better sound quality but the only bad part is it has wires. Well, the new one will not have wires. Also the new astro will have 7.1 souround sound which was one thing that was bad about the old astro a40 headset.. it only had 5.1. Also the Turtle beach x41 makes a buzzing sound sometimes. (so people say) So it would seem the astro a40 wireless would be the better headset...?

If I am not getting my facts strait tell me.

Also I am getting this headset for my xbox 360 to play games not for music.

Thanks

What you should really know is that surround sound for headphones isn't needed. It's mostly for marketing and its a gimmick. Stereo in headphones does surround naturally very well. Next thing you should know is that most gaming headsets such as the TB and Astros are overpriced/overrated. You get much better sound quality buying a pair of headphones from a good brand such as Sennheiser, AKG, Grado, Audio Technica, Denon, ect.

Headset? I don't keep up with headsets as I almost never talk online and the quality is much lower than what you should be getting.

Headphones? I sure could.

Ding ding ding :P Just need a headphone amp to work with the 360. Looking up headphone amp on amazon should provide a few cheap ones. Lacks a mic though but you should be able to find a clip-on one that works with the 360 somewhere.
