For as long as I have been playing PC games, I have always used cheap, generic keyboards and mice. I currently use an old eMachines keyboard from five years ago, and a cheap (but reliable) Microsoft optical mouse, which is about four years old. I am in the market for a new gaming keyboard, and possibly a new mouse as well.

Now:

1. What gaming keyboard would you guys suggest?

And:

2. Is getting a gaming mouse absolutely necessary? Will I still get by fine on my generic optical mouse?

Thanks.

I use generic also.

Gaming mice look so cumbersome. I could be wrong though.

Gaming mice are absolutely awesome. I have a G9 and to be honest it is way more comfortable than any generic mouse I have used. You don't really need it unless you are competitive in multiplayer games. That is one of the reasons I bought one.

1. For a gaming keyboard, a good general consensus would be the Logitech G15. 2. A gaming mouse isn't necessary, but its a nice thing to have.

I have a Logitech G5 mouse and I love it, it just feels right in my hand. As for keyboards I just use a generic acer keyboard its good enough for me the only thing I would like is a volume control on it.

I love my SteelSeries Merc keyboard and my Cooler Master Storm Sentinel.

The Merc acts like a keyboard and a gamepad. It lets you have all the main keys of an FPS right there in your hand.

The Storm Sentinel is probably the nicest mouse I've owned. It has built in memory for 4 different profiles. On the Fly DPI changing. 7 of the 8 buttons for each profile is programmable. So you can program the Left and Right click something else besides Left and Right click.
